| | Shaggy Hotshot Ultramix CD Shaggy Discography of CDs
Among the many peaks and valleys international reggae/pop superstar Shaggy experienced in the '90s was having to rebound from being dropped by Virgin Records following a run of worldwide smash singles. Following a widely successful comeback with MCA via 2000's HOTSHOT, the multi-talented Jamaican returned with the dancehall-oriented HOTSHOT ULTRAMIX. The 12 songs featured on this groove-driven outing cover Shaggy's most recent work, and are highlighted by a pair of remixes for his big hit "It Wasn't Me". The Cartel Mix is given a hip-hop spin by rhyme merchants Ricardo "Rik Rok" Ducent, Nucci Rey O, and Wiz Dinero while the Punch Mix cleaves more closely to the original.
Throughout, Shaggy's various musical tastes are amply displayed. Muted trumpet and subtle jazz nuances give the Players Mix of "Chica Bonita" a smooth flow while a seamless sample of "Shake Your Body Down To The Ground" defines the infectious "Dance & Shout". Elsewhere, unobtrusive string arrangements enhance Shaggy's duet with Robin on the scintillating "Too Hot To Handle" before this set wraps up with a live version of "Angel", Shaggy's smash fusion of Chip Taylor's "Angel Of The Morning" and Steve Miller's "The Joker" featuring longtime running buddy Rayvon.

Hotshot Ultramix album
$9.09 You can hear it echoing off the walls of buildings, pouring from four-wheelers and BMWs alike. "Boombastic" was THE summer jam of 1995 for a good-sized portion of America, both urban and otherwise. In fact, it's still holding steady on some top ten charts. And now Mr. Boombastic, Brooklyn's own Shaggy, has released that song, and a few more dance hall-flavored numbers, ...

An interesting collection of singles and posthumously archived material created in the same way as Hendrix's CRASH LANDING and The Beatles "Free as a Bird," (albeit with most of the original musicians), CONFRONTATION is more consistent than one would expect and includes at least one certified classic in "Buffalo Soldier." The record features some very tasty guitar, good vocal performances and the always rock-steady rhythm section of the Barrett brothers. While not absolutely essential, it should certainly be the next purchase for anyone who already owns all of the official Marley albums. While the disc is perhaps a little light on variety, it's still a Bob Marley album and thus as good as the best work of many other artists. Overall, CONFRONTATION is great mellow summertime listening and a worthy addition to any reggae collection.
A posthumous collection produced by Rita Marley, based on work left behind by Bob upon ...
| | Steve Gibbons Down In The Bunker CD (1978) England
Hotshot Ultramix CD music
$21.04 Sometimes referred to as Birmingham, England's answer to Bob Seger, with his working-class rock & roll and tough, British wit, Steve Gibbons' first two releases for MCA were hit-and-miss affairs which garnered him a U.K. hit with Chuck Berry's "Tulane," as well as a fan base that included members of the Who. This would have undoubtedly been enough on which to build a journeyman career, but with his fourth record, Down in the Bunker, there seems to be a shift in attitude -- from the choice to use David Bowie and T. Rex producer Tony Visconti on down to Gibbons' new appearance (from bearded, long-haired, leather-clad rocker to clean-shaven, nattily attired bandleader) -- that takes things to a new level. And while there's still a bit of Gibbons and company's former rock & roll swagger, there's also an understated intelligence that had been suggested in the past, but is truly evident here. Musically and vocally, Down in the Bunker shows obvious American influences, but lyrically Gibbons' songs touch on questions of class, race, sexual orientation, and trends, with a decidedly British bent. Tracks like "No Spitting ...
| | Augustus Pablo Rockers Meet King Tubby In A Fire House CD (1980)
Hotshot Ultramix music CDs
$14.55 As is often the case with albums that come from deep within the insular world of 1970s Kingston, the title of this one bears a little bit of explanation. "Rockers" was the nickname given to melodica player and producer Augustus Pablo; on this album, as on several other classics of the genre, he is teamed up with dub wizard Osbourne Ruddock (better known as King Tubby) to deliver a set of dub mixes derived from singles by Hugh Mundell, Delroy Williams, and others. (King Jammy, one of King Tubby's protégés, also contributes a few mixes here, but is uncredited.) "Fire House" ...
