Essential Johnny Cash album for sale Product Description

Essential Johnny Cash album for sale by Johnny Cash was released Feb 12, 2002 on the Columbia label. In the past, if you wanted a Johnny Cash compilation, you were basically confined by licensing issues, as Cash's seminal Sun recordings weren't generally available in the same place as his more eclectic Columbia output. THE ESSENTIAL JOHNNY CASH solves that problem, tying together the various eras of Cash's career on a generous 35-track, two-disc set. Accordingly, this anthology is damn near definitive. Essential Johnny Cash CD music is a 2-disc set with 36 songs.   ...See Full Description

Cash!
Johnny Cash was one of my mother's favorites, and as such, one of mine since I can remember. (still have the very worn sun records) He truely is one of the immortals of music (or for that matter, the world!) This collection is so good, and it gives an excellent retrospective of this great artist's career.

Legendary
The words legend and legendary are used much too often in the world, however when you're speaking of the late Johnny Cash it is entirely appropriate.

Essential Johnny Cash buy CD music Today the most recognition the Animals get is "House of the Rising Sun" being played on oldies radio, but in the mid-1960s they were a powerful part of the British Invasion, often reckoned on a par with the Beatles, the Stones, and the Who. Like those bands, the Animals had strong roots in blues and R&B, but, in their original incarnation, they stayed closer to those roots than their peers did. This definitive compilation, masterfully assembled by the ABKCO think tank of Teri Landi and Jody Klein, shows the tough, uncompromising use to which the Animals put their American influences. John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" is recast as a raw garage rocker glazed with Alan Price's sinister organ riffs, and the aforementioned "House of the Rising Sun" is transformed from a traditional folk lament to an urgent, ominous piece of churning tumult. Of course, the group skillfully expanded those roots (with the help of some great writers), and turned out some classic working-class-rebel anthems ("We Gotta Get Out of This Place," "It's My Life"). By '67, the original lineup disbanded, and Eric Burdon led a new batch of Animals into a psychedelic West Coast sound ("San Franciscan Nights," "Monterey"). The Animals may not be given pride of place in the rock history books, but RETROSPECTIVE shows that they fully deserve it. Audio Remixers: Eddie Kramer; Gary Kellgren; Vic Briggs. Essential Johnny Cash CD music Want to hear part of the reason why Johnny Cash is an icon, a singer respected and influential in country, folk, and rock & roll? THIS is it! In 1968--one of the most tumultuous years in American history since the Depression years--Cash recorded an album live in front of a (literally) captive (but wildly appreciative) audience, in Folsom Prison. With two guitars, bass, drums, and a small vocal group (including Cash's wife June Carter Cash and the Statler Brothers), Cash sings his hits and lesser-known songs ("Send a Picture of Mother") and some haunting country standards ("Dark as a Dungeon"), as well as songs about REAL outlaws ("Cocaine Blues") to a rapt audience that hangs on every word. That boom-chicka-boom sound is sharp as the first mean wind of winter, and Cash is in fine fettle (though his voice cracks from time to time). With its unique setting, this is as harrowing an album as any ever recorded. Additional Tracks Liner Note Author: Johnny Cash. Recording information: Folsom Prison (01/13/1968). Author: Woody Pornpitaksuk. Photographer: Jim Marshall . Essential Johnny Cash songs Includes liner notes Peter Guralnick and Ernst Mikael Jorgensen. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, 30 #1 HITS presents a career-spanning serving of the King's chart-toppers. Dating back to "Heartbreak Hotel" (which was inspired by a suicide note printed in the Miami Herald), most of these cuts have become indelibly etched into the fabric of pop culture and each has a unique story behind it. "Love Me Tender" has its origins in the Civil War ballad "Aura Lee," "It's Now Or Never" found Elvis Americanizing the Neapolitan ballad "O Sole Mio," and "Wooden Heart" likewise was converted from a German children's song. This Memphis native's choice of artists to cover was equally intriguing and includes Hollywood legend Al Jolson ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), New Orleans soul shouter Smiley Lewis ("One Night"), blues great Big Mama Thornton ("Hound Dog"), and country titan Hank Snow ("[Now And Then There's] A Fool Such As I"). Further testimony of Presley's long-lasting appeal is the inclusion of the JXL Radio Edit Remix of "A Little Less Conversation," a UK #1 that not only enabled Elvis to have more chart-toppers than The Beatles, but also became a hit in a number of other countries including the United States. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Incl. Bonus Track "A Little Less Conversation" Compilation producer: David Bendeth. Personnel: Elvis Presley (vocals); Myrna Smith, Charles Prescott, J.D. Essential Johnny Cash album for sale This CD commemorates Willie Nelson's 70th Birthday (April 30, 2003). The catalog of Willie Nelson is so vast and rich that assembling an "essential" collection of only one or two discs seems nearly impossible. RCA's single-disc 1995 attempt was admirable and worthy, but doomed by space limitations. With a bit more room to move, Legacy's roomier two-disc collection is about close as anyone could hope to come. We get the full view of the great singer/songwriter's artistic journey. "Hello Walls" and the evergreen "Crazy" hail from the days when Nelson was tooling around Nashville as a songwriter for hire but mystifyingly unable to connect as a solo artist. His transformation into a counterculture icon via the '70s "outlaw country" movement is marked by the likes of "Me and Paul" and "Bloody Mary Morning." His tremendous skill as in interpreter can be heard in such standards as "Blue Skies" and "Georgia on Mind," which helped make him a crossover success in the STARDUST era. Latter-day collaborations with everyone from Aerosmith ("One Time Too Many") to U2 ("Slow Dancing") show Willie's mercurial, eclectic nature. Add it all up and a portrait comes together of a man whose artistic vision has carried him across decades and stylistic shifts aplenty and seen him through in style. Recorded between 1961 & 2002. 2cds-40 All Time Country Classics 1961-2002 Personnel includes: Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris, Ray Price, Leann Womack, Julio Iglesias, Leon Russell, Merle Haggard, Aerosmith. Essential Johnny Cash CD music "Give My Love To Rose" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. When the first volume of Johnny Cash's AMERICAN series appeared in 1994, it would have been difficult to predict its critical and commercial success, much less the fact that an illness-beset Cash would be turning out a powerful fourth installment of the series eight years later. Like its three predecessors, AMERICAN IV is a home-recorded, bare-bones Rick Rubin production wherein Cash tackles old classics by other writers as well as more contemporary tunes by artists from the rock world, with a smattering of his own new compositions thrown in. It's also arguably the strongest since the first volume. Now that the novelty of hearing the Man in Black tackle tunes by the likes of Depeche Mode ("Personal Jesus") and Nine Inch Nails ("Hurt") has worn off, we can get past the gimmickry to fully appreciate the power of Cash's soul-baring interpretations. He brings an equal amount of gravitas to old country and folk tunes like "Streets of Laredo" and "Give My Love to Rose." To hear Cash's worn, husky, lived-in voice inhabit the world-weary narrative of the Beatles' "In My Life" and the graphic, almost spiritual romance of the Ewan MacColl-penned ballad "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is to be led directly to the heart of these songs' deepest meanings. The Man Comes Around is the fourth in a series of collaborations between Johnny Cash and producer Rick Rubin. The series began with 1994's critically-acclaimed American Recordings, followed by Unchained (1996)and American III:Solitary Man (2000). Each of these previous collaborations has yielded Cash a Grammy Award The Man Comes Around features new Cash compositions as well as a diverse array of cover songs including Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry,""Personal Jesus" from Depeche Mode and Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water"featuring guest vocals by Fiona Apple. BONUS DVD: "Hurt" video. Recorded at Cash Cabin, Nashville, Tennessee and Akademie Mathematique Of Philosphical Sound Research, Los Angeles, California. Includes liner notes by Johnny Cash. AMERICAN IV: THE MAN COMES AROUND was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals. Personnel: Johnny Cash (vocals, acoustic guitar); Mike Campbell (vocals, acoustic guitar); Laura Cash (vocals, fiddle); Don Henley, Fiona Apple, John Carter Cash, Nick Cave (vocals); Smokey Hormel (acoustic guitar, slide guitar); Jeff Hannah, John Frusciante, Marty Stuart, Randy Scruggs, Thom Bresh, Kerry Marx (acoustic guitar); Jack Clement (dobro); David Ferguson (ukulele); Terry Harrington (clarinet); Roger Manning (piano, tack piano, harmonium, chamberlin, Mellotron); Benmont Tench (piano, harmonium, organ, Wurlitzer organ, Mellotron, vibraphone); Joey Waronker (drums). Essential Johnny Cash buy CD music It's no coincidence that maverick country star Dwight Yoakam rose to prominence in Los Angeles during the 1980s, playing clubs with the likes of Los Lobos, X, and the Blasters. Yoakam's roots revivalism, which borrows equally from the Bakersfield honky-tonk of Buck Owens and vintage Sun Studios-era rockabilly, has much in common with a punk-inspired, back-to-basics approach. THE VERY BEST OF proves that despite--or maybe because of--Yoakam's category defiance, his music is immensely appealing. Yoakam's willingness to bend the rules is evident in his choice of covers. Included here are a punchy version of "Suspicious Minds," a countrified take on Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me," and a swinging cover of Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." To these and other tunes, Yoakam brings his country-rock flair and his truly beautiful baritone croon. But nothing matches his late-'80s cuts, particularly the rave-up barroom classic "Honky Tonk Man" and Yoakam's own "Guitars, Cadillacs," standouts on this excellent collection representing one of country's coolest and most distinctive stars. Photographer: Davis Factor. Personnel: Dwight Yoakam (vocals, guitar); Buck Owens (vocals). Liner Note Author: Holly George-Warren.
