NOTHING SHORT OF A BULLET is a live concert album by the Canadian pop band the Lowest of the Low.
After an indefinite hiatus, a series of shows in the Toronto and Buffalo area in November 2000 sparked the resulting magic on this impressive live compilation. With a more mature and aged delivery, lead singer Ron Hawkins sounds eerily similar to Elvis Costello in his early days with the Attractions, specifically on songs such as the infectious and pleasing "Gamble." Most of the tunes keep to a very tight musical game plan, but there are some fluffy lightweight and rowdy barroom moments all contained in one song, with "Salesmen, Cheats & Liars" a good example, although the overall live effect is muted in the fact there is a rather spliced feel instead of concert continuity. "City Full of Cowards" is another highlight of the first half of the album, which also includes a bonus disc consisting of three newly recorded songs. The tightness of the group is also surprising given the lapse between projects. The studio songs come off a bit too polished and with some more bite. But whether this is a brief asterisk or the start of something new, the live disc is an ideal snapshot of an underrated band going out on top. ~ Jason MacNeil
Limited digipak with an extra CD featuring 3 new (2001) recordings '(These Are) The Lives and Times', 'New Westminster Taxi Squad' & 'Kerosene' (Bad Religion cover). Disc one features 17 live tracks.

| | Policia!: A Tribute To The Police CD (2005)
Nothing Short Of A Bullet CD music
$9.69 Rounding up bands from around the emo/indie rock/pop-punk genres, The Militia Group has compiled a pretty solid 12-track tribute to the Police in its enthusiastically titled Policia! While some contributions hit closer to the mark than others, the overall album thankfully comes off as a competent and pleasant affair that doesn't play like a bunch of lukewarm Sting wannabes. The relative diversity of the bands present here helps the album bounce enjoyably along from track to track without turning stale or annoying. Brandtson kicks things off on the right foot with their smooth rendition of "King of Pain" (played like it could be a band original), while Fall Out Boy next taps into their darker side with a pop-punktrified "Roxanne." Their version is admittedly fun due to the band's sheer energy, but for such a talented group, there's a slight feeling that their rework could have ...

Just what you're looking for in a girl... uhh, i mean band. With the Jolly Lamas, what you hear is what you get. There's no studio magic here. The band is very proud that they wrote, recorded and engineered this album entirely in their garage using only the bare minimum in studio gear - ensure that the songs would remain fresh, raw and passionate.Similar to their highly acclaimed first album 'Two Seconds to the Moon' - Coming Back, offers a deeper insight into the life experiences and observational thoughts ...

Nothing Short Of A Bullet CD music
$11.49 After spending most of the '80s delving deep into Celtic imagery, Van Morrison made ENLIGHTENMENT, using the early rock 'n' roll and R&B of his youth for inspiration. "Real Real Gone" quotes lines from songs by James Brown, Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke to reflect getting squarely hit by Cupid's arrow, while "In The Days Before Rock 'N' Roll" is where Morrison gets truly nostalgic about the ...
