| | Joyce Breach Love Is The Thing CD Joyce Breach Discography of CDs
Vocalist Joyce Breach & pianist William Roy join together for a set of standards & originals, including "When Love Was All We Had," "It's The Little Things," "Alone Too Long," "Goodbye For Now," "Love Is The Thing" & many others.
A superior cabaret singer, Joyce Breach (who is accompanied by pianist William Roy) mostly sticks to interpreting little-known songs on this set. Four of the 18 numbers are of fairly recent vintage, while the others are generally obscurities (other than "Where Are You" and "Something to Remember You By"). The interpretations are straightforward, and emphasize the lyrics in a tasteful and lightly swinging manner. There is no real improvisation here but, due to the rarity of the material and Breach's pleasing voice, there is no need for it either. Among the songs that are brought to life are "You Are Not My First Love," "Don't Let a Good Thing Get Away," "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me," "It's the Little Things," and "Anyone Can Whistle." ~ Scott Yanow
Personnel: Joyce Breach (vocals); William Roy (piano).
