Charles Malik Whitfield, David Keith, Gabriel Macht, Gene Hackman, Joaquim De Almeida, Owen Wilson - Director: John Moore On a reconnaissance flight over eastern Europe, disillusioned naval pilot Chris Burnett (Owen Wilson) and his partner, Stackhouse (Gabriel Macht), photograph a scene they were not meant to see. When their plane is shot down and Stackhouse is quickly captured and executed, Burnett must struggle to survive in unfamiliar hostile territory with a cold-blooded assassin and hundreds of enemy troops on his heels. Meanwhile, on an American battleship in the Adriatic Sea, Burnett's commanding officer, Admiral Reigart (Gene Hackman), attempts to negotiate his soldier's return amidst tense political and military maneuvers. Soon Burnett discovers exactly why he's being hunted, making his situation--and Reigert's actions--even more perilous.
Benefiting from Wilson's straightforward performance and Hackman's typically engaging presence, BEHIND ENEMY LINES proves itself with a solid story (loosely based on real-life events) and excellent action sequences. Shot in a cold, icy light, John Moore's film features a nail-biting aerial chase, a tense race across a grenade-filled wasteland, and a stunningly explosive final battle. Wilson, typically cast in quirky comedic roles, is an unlikely action hero who turns out to be the movie's secret weapon. By avoiding excessive macho posturing, BEHIND ENEMY LINES is smarter, more exciting, and better looking than most Hollywood military thrillers. Behind Enemy Lines Reviews: "...Wilson is, as always, an endearing performer....He charms with a stoner's laconic calm..."-- Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly "...A taut wartime rescue thriller that sustains a relentless buzzing energy..."
-- Stephen Holden, New York Times "...Moore captures the pure chaos of urban warfare as effectively as anything since Stanley Kubrick's FULL METAL JACKET..."

Movie of the year Actually this movie is basedon TRUE events that happend during War in Bosnia,Downed pilot actually occured (except it was in Northeast Bosnia) pilot did survive 7 days in woods chased by serb soldiers after was picked up by helicopters and save(only differenc it wasn't any fighting likein movie)As for rest of movie ,events are also true such as mass graves, destruction of towns, attitued and behavior of French commander actually shows role of French(and British) troops in Bosnia.Crew that made movie went in every detail.Language, signs are 100% accurate. They didn't miss a detail.Even unoforms worn by serb soldiers are shown in detail ( and they had a lot of different uniforms) Serb soldier behaviours, including guy that chased pilot (in Bosnia they were called paramillitary units and never had millitary uniforms) are right on target.Movie might be "dissaponting" to some people that got use to if war andaction fantasies made in Hollywood, but if you are looking to see real war movie and how people survive and act this is a movie.Trust me I am Bosnian that went thru war and seen all this.I was actually chased by serb soldiers just like that pilot in movie several times.I got fealing like director was with me in Bosnia during a war.Trully masterpiece.Funny thing I ignored this movie when I heard it was about pilot shot over Bosnia, thinking it would be lame movie as it would celebrate "american hero". Behind Enemy Lines movie DVD
$6.55 Robert Redford stars as veteran CIA agent Nathan Muir in this thriller from Tony Scott (TOP GUN, ENEMY OF THE STATE). Set in 1991, Muir expects his last day before retirement to be an easy one. Instead, he finds that his protégé, Tom Bishop (Brad Pitt), is being held on espionage charges in a Chinese prison will be executed in 24 hours. A seasoned agent, Muir has played spy games for a long time and quickly realizes that the CIA may not be acting in Bishop's best interest. Even as an agency committee is grilling Muir, he is secretly working to secure his former charge's freedom. Action-packed flashbacks establish the relationship between the two men: their first meeting during the Vietnam War, Muir's recruitment of Bishop following the war, Bishop's training and early missions in Berlin, and an important operation in Beirut. Similarly, the flashbacks trace the evolution of Bishop from an eager, brand-new agent in 1975 to a disillusioned veteran in the mid-1980s who is at odds with his mentor, Muir. This last layer of conflict adds extra suspense to SPY GAME, as Muir must decide whether to help his old friend or take the easy way out.
Brad Pitt is reunited as a co-star with his A River Runs Through It (1992) director Robert Redford for this espionage thriller from Tony Scott. On the verge ...
