Prog outfit Camel is revisited on the reissue of their album, MIRAGE.
With their second album, Mirage, Camel begin to develop their own distinctive sound, highlighted by the group's liquid, intricate rhythms and the wonderful, unpredictable instrumental exchanges by keyboardist Pete Bardens and guitarist Andy Latimer. Camel also distinguish themselves from their prog rock peers with the multi-part suite "Lady Fantasy," which suggests the more complex directions they would take a few albums down the line. Also, Latimer's graceful flute playing distinguishes several songs on the record, including "Supertwister," and it's clear that he has a more supple technique than such contemporaries as Ian Anderson. Camel are still ironing out some quirks in their sound on Mirage, but it's evident that they are coming into their own. ~ Daevid Jehnzen

| Mirage Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) A cult legend of an album worth all of the hype Much like Rundgren's self-titled Utopia, this album contains some impressive melodic hooks and vocals, but it generally stands alone as a well-crafted and impressive album in it's field. Of the 5 songs, the 3rd, 4th and 5th tracks are the meat of the album in my opinion. They more than make up for the first track and the second, the 2nd being more of an interlude. If you are a Camel fan, chances are you already have this album. If you aren't, you'll be very impressed. I can't reccomend any of their other albums as a solid investment however, as is the case with most prog-rock psychedelia themed albums. This is a definite exception, and holds it's own amongst any great concept album in the category. Submitted by scott (Roanoke,VA,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Para los buenos amantes del progresivo .. Este es un disco que debes tener en tu colección, un clásico del progresivo que debe estar al nivel de "wish you where here" de pink floyd, o "Selling England by te Pound" de Genesis, definitivamente un estilo perfecto y una excelente banda Submitted by jctejeda (México) Was This Review Helpful? $11.99 MOONMADNESS, the album from Camel, returns in this remastered rerelease.
Abandoning the lovely soundscapes of Snow Goose, Camel delved into layered guitar and synthesizers similar to those of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here on the impressive Moonmadness. Part of the reason behind the shift in musical direction was the label's insistence that Camel venture into more commercial territory after the experimental Snow Goose, and it is true that the music on Moonmadness is more akin to traditional English progressive rock, even though it does occasionally dip into jazz-fusion territory with syncopated rhythms and shimmering ...

Mirage CD music
$12.55 The 18-track anthology WHITE PUNKS ON DOPE collects material from the early career of San Francisco's answer to the New York Dolls, including the pop parody "Don't Touch Me There" and the immortal title track, along with rarities and live tracks.
This combination of the Tubes' first couple of albums really does feel like two distinct releases slapped together -- and it's the Grand Canyon-sized gap in quality that makes the demarcation about as subtle as a farting elephant hanging from a chandelier. The innovative San Francisco band's 1975 eponymous debut was, and is, a masterpiece. Creative, intelligent, sardonic, theatrical. By contrast, 1976's Young & Rich was, for the most part, uninspired, insipid, short ...
