I was a little skeptical about this album, as it's not a comedy album, but more of a Q&A session. I found it to be quite informative. George talked about everything from his childhood to his latest HBO specials, offering insight on writing comedy, timing, and delivery, to name a few. The one thing I disliked was the audio quality. The back of the CD, said it all for the most part: The interview was recorded on analog tape, so it may contain background noise, tape hiss, and other anomalies. I found this to be right - this is not a studio-recorded album, so do keep that in mind, but it's just fine to listen to (younger listeners may complain).

As somebody who would happily jettison his Beatles albums as long as he could keep his favorite Rundgren albums (although you'd still have to fight me for Ram), it's hard not to listen to the budget-line 1997 collection I Saw the Light and Other Hits and not be just a little conflicted. On one hand, it's hard not to be the didactic purist and scream, "Where is 'Zen Archer'?," "Where is 'Long Flowing Robe'?," "Where is 'Couldn't I Just Tell You'?," or, if we're going to include Utopia (which we apparently are), "Where is 'Feets Don't Fail Me Now'?" Then, as the collection plays, it's hard not to love all of these ten tracks, with the notable exception of the Faithful Beach Boys cover "Good Vibration" (good, but not nearly as good as the sublime "Love of the Common Man," another song that could have been here).
