After a short-lived retirement, KMFDM came roaring back with ATTAK, issued three years after what was supposed to be their final album, 1999's ADIOS. Founder Sascha Konietzko and company prove that the mini- break didn't dull their penchant for industrial metal with a dance edge. Some of the selections prove to be more dance-oriented than metallic (such as "Dirty") or slower in tempo ("Save Me"), but there are plenty of hard-stomping, electroid rockers in the mix ("Sturm & Drang" and "Risen" will keep the metalhead portion of their large fanbase very happy). Also of note--with the release of ATTAK, KMFDM split from their longtime label, Wax Trax (with whom they'd recorded steadily since their inception in 1986), and set up shop with a new label, Metropolis.

Attak Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) KMFDM's Attak-Great stuff!!!!! I was a bit skeptical when I heard KMFDM was getting together (less En Esch) but because I'm a KMFDM fan, I had to get Attak. I was not disappointed. I would say it's arguably the best KMFDM CD to date. Songs like "Dirty", "Urban Monkey Warfare" and "Sturm and Drang" keep them the way I remember they've always been. "Save Me" is probably my favorite song and I think it's probably the best (or at least one of the best) songs they've ever written. If you like KMFDM, you'll love this album. If you don't know or like them, you should get the album because I think you'll love it!!!!! Submitted by a reviewer (Colmubus, Ohio USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
What Do You Know, Sascha? This was a disappointment. It didn't blow me away like previous releases. There were a few good tracks(Watts' Yohoho and Preach/Pervert, and Lucias Superhero) but thats not enough to get me to recommend it. Maybe if Attak/reload was replaced with Back in the USSA and Sleep was scraped for Boots-Bombs mix(those tracks off the very good single Boots) I'd give it a better review. If your new to KMFDM you might dig this. If you like oldschool KMFDM than check out Slick Idiot (w/ former members Schulz and Esch) or Pig(Raymond Watts). KMFDM, doing it again It´s quite allright, it´s all ok. Thats my conclusion of this album. Kmfdm have been my heroes since i heard "naïve".This album contains less Kmfdm than previous album, but then again one just have to submit to the four to the flour stomping on "sturm&drang" wich in german means something like "inner doubts" and the incredible recycling abilities on "urban monkey warfare". Even if Kmfdm´s mark has been made on the music industri, like on the terrific record "naïve", they still continue to lead the industrial/techno/metal scene slightly forward./room 101 Submitted by godlike_doglike (Gothenburg , Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? The comeback I didn't think KMFDM could make a comeback like this for quite some time. This one was really well-thought through in the making.
i still think that KMFDM should stick to origanility as far as songs go.
This cd kicks ass!!!

How hard do you want it? This album is very hard more so than even Extort.
As a whole it is quite good the only song I dont like is Superhero. I would recommend it this album to kmfdm fans but if your just starting to get into kmfdm try an earlier album like Angst. btw if your judging this album by the boots single it is no indication of this album in my opinion. steping in a positive direction from previous albums (example does not use most of same lines from other albums) even with out some of the members like En Esch. $19.55 One of the Ad Hoc label's first objectives has been to reissue the complete catalog of Woof Records, a small independent imprint directed by Tim Hodgkinson and Bill Gilonis in the '80s. Woof 7 Inches culls the EPs and singles released on the label between 1980 and 1984 by the Hodgkinson/Gilonis duo, the Work, and the Lowest Note. Some of these tracks were already available on CD, but it makes sense to have them all in one place, and the album as a whole makes a very fine listen of British avant pop at a time when the majority were emulating "Mr. Roboto." First up is the Hodgkinson/Gilonis material, home recordings released in 1980 as the EP I Do -- I Do -- I Don't -- I Don't. Harsh-sounding experiments in pop deconstructionism, these tunes are packed with good and not-so-good ideas and provide important context to the history of the Work, a group consisting of the aforementioned two plus drummer Rick Wilson and guitarist Mick Hobbs. From the Work there is a contribution to the 1980 compilation LP Miniatures, the three-track single I Hate America, the Recommended Records Sampler track "Houdini," and the 1992 piece "Scream Circle." All of these are available as bonus tracks on CD reissues of the Work's albums. "I Hate America" and "Houdini" pack a lot of punch, blending punk angst, rock stance, and avant-garde flair. The collection finally comes down to the Lowest Note, a shape-shifting group spearheaded by Andy Bole, Sven Halo, and Billy Rebel. Their songs come closer to the pop format and are extremely rich in arrangements, ...
