| | Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology CD Bonnie Tyler Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
The passionate hits of Welsh vocalist Bonnie Tyler are gathered on this anthology.
UK compilation from Welsh singer who was once thought of as a female Rod Stewart. Best known for her power ballad from 1983 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' as well as 'Holding Out For a Hero' from the 'Footloose' soundtrack. 37 tracks on 2 CDs, remastered from the original tapes. Housed in a slipcase. 2002.
2002's Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology collects 37 tracks from the earthy Welsh singer who coined the phrase "turn around, bright eyes." The two-disc set covers all of Tyler's career and includes all of her radio hits, including "It's a Heartache," "Total Eclipse of the Heart," "Faster Than the Speed of Night," and "Holding out for a Hero." Fans looking for a more concise compilation bereft of filler would be better off with either Castle's Very Best of Bonnie Tyler or Sony's Greatest Hits anthology (both of which are single-disc overviews), but listeners looking to dig deeper into Tyler's career will find much to love here. ~ James Christopher Monger Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology Music Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Anthology Excellent well worth the price. RAVISHING! On this CD we get Tyler's career from My! My! Honeycomb- (Tyler's debut single, for the first time ever available in CD-format)to her big hits recorded for BMG Records. Tyler is once again back in the spotlight in Europe where her remake of Total Eclipse tops the charts in several countries. The Anthology CD is a must have for you who have missed her songs after her biggest hits in the 80´s. Submitted by ravenclaw (Göteborg, Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology album
$14.69 Jake Brennan & The Confidence Men: Steve Malone (pedal steel guitar); Sean Slade (piano); Jimmy Ryan (bass guitar); Jake Brennan.
Jake Brennan's first full-length album is the sort of record that makes you wonder where the hell this guy has been and what he's been doing, since his work's just too strong for him to have simply come out of nowhere. On Love & Bombs, Brennan is a natural born rocker with a honky tonk heart, a classic nicotine-burnished voice, and a killer band behind him as they ...
| | Stiff Little Fingers Now Then CD (1982)
Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology CD music
$12.95 After the unabashed brilliance of Go for It, Stiff Little Fingers' fourth album, September 1982's Now Then came as something of a disappointment, a bedraggled mish-mash that illustrated (though nobody knew it at the time) the internal dissent that was already pulling the group apart. Within weeks of Now Then's release, Stiff Little Fingers would have disbanded, to lie fallow for much of the next five years, and it was only with the release, in 1983, of the All the Best compilation that the true brilliance of the best of this album was revealed. Divorced from the often workaday filler that punctuated the album, the U.K. hit single "Bits of Kids," the snappy "Touch And Go" and "Talkback," and a genuinely moving version of Nicky Thomas' reggae smash "Love of the Common People" are as good as any earlier Fingers masterpiece, while the bonus tracks appended to the Captain Oi! reissue round up the solidly excellent 1.10 or Less EP, plus the bitter B-side "Good for Nothing." ~ Dave Thompson
On 1982's Now Then, which again featured a new drummer (skilled journeyman Dolphin Taylor), SLF attempted to become a full-fledged mainstream rock band. As a consequence, their hardcore fans deserted them in droves. To be fair, leader Jake Burns had always professed a high regard for Bruce Springsteen and Little Feat as much as his punk elders, and his lyrics here changed in tone rather than theme. But that wasn't enough to establish a new audience, nor retain their existing one. It's a real shame, because so much of Now Then is superb, honest, combative, and heartfelt. "Won't Be Told," "The Price of Admission," and the singles "Talkback" and "Bits ...
| | Peter Malik New York City CDs (2003) Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Total Eclipse: The Bonnie Tyler Anthology music CDs
$14.29 The album NEW YORK CITY, released in 2003 under the name the Peter Malick Group, found Grammy-winning singer Norah Jones joining guitarist Malick for a session of mellow, rootsy blues tracks. Jones's gauzy vocals fit perfectly with the mood of the music, and the album was a success. THE CHILL ALBUM, released subsequently, featured downtempo DJ remixes of NEW YORK CITY's tracks, while THE REMIX ALBUM, another remix treatment of the Jones/Malick project, focused on groove-oriented versions.
THE DELUXE NEW YORK CITY COLLECTION brings together all three albums. A glance at the track list might frighten off those unfamiliar with the albums, since the same six song titles appear over and over across the 31 tracks of the double album. But the DJ tracks are so radically transformed that they may as well have come from a different universe (while still retaining the enticing, relaxed mood of the originals). The set comes recommended to fans of Jones, contemporary blues, and downtempo electronica.
"Here, in the tradition of Billie Holiday was a stunningly beautiful, blues infused voice. This was my first contact with Norah Jones." Peter Malick was not talking about hearing COME AWAY WITH ME for the first time, but about ...
