Hitchhike To Hell/Kidnapped Coed Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Something Weird has done it again... Again, Something Weird grabs some forgotten ultra-cheap B-movies from their vault...
"Hitch Hike to Hell" is nowhere as exploitative as the title might suggest, but is actually a interesting little thriller hampered by awful dialogue and non-existent acting (except for the killer character). Picture and sound quality are below-average.
"Kidnapped Coed", however, is a really weird little movie... the coed and her kidnapper embark on sort of an odyssey through the Carolina backwoods and encounter all kinds of really nutso fellas. Described by others as "David Lynch on a 3 Dollar budget", and that nails it down. (Actually, I think a certain Q. Tarantino might have seen it, too). A really unique movie, presented in a decent quality, worth alone the buy.
As usual, Something Weird packs the disc with nice extras. A nearly half-hour camcorder-style "documentary" presents the glorious offices of Boxoffice Pictures, sort of interesting, but it drags. Hilarious are the two shorts "The Hitch-Hiker" and "The Dangerous Stranger", the third short, a cartoon called "The Cautious Twins" (which deals, like "Stranger", with all kind of nasty stuff that can happen to little children when they talk to strangers) is, however, incomplete.
Anyway, another very good presentation by Something Weird. If you're into somewhat strange B-movies, you should check it out. Submitted by a reviewer (Berlin, Germany) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
