(6 Customer Reviews)
This rerecording of the Norwegian black metal band's classic 1996 album, which includes two previously unreleased tracks and a DVD, has all the nuanced aggression of the original, with some welcome updates in the addition of the formidable percussive talents of Mayhem drummer Hellhammer and a greater emphasis on guitars over the more keyboard-heavy original. The fearsome onslaught of "Antikrist," with its unearthly chorus and pulverizing rhythm, is suitably awe-inspiring, while the relentless attack of "Nar Sjelen Hentes Til Helvete" cements the band's reputation as one of black metal's most accomplished practitioners.
Released in 1996 and available now for the first time domestically, Stormblast is an absolute must for the discerning fan. This album was a big step towards the distinct sound that they have become known for today. 2002.

| Stormblast Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Utter Uncompromising Black Metal I am a big Dimmu fan and have all their albums. I have the original Stormblast album and I thought that the material was excellent, although the production didn't serve it justice. I recently bought the reissue and it blasted me away. The new Stormblast is uncompromising in its vision and has the sound of a monster, definitely a must have if you liked the original or if your into black metal at all. The atmosphere is truly like a winter storm and the guitar work is impressive. With Hellhammer at the drums, the album is invigorated far from the original. Dodsferd is the absolute best on the album, especially the last riff, Broderskapets Ring and Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen are also classics. The bonus track Avmaktslave is killer as well. The bonus dvd is good as well. Submitted by emperorwizard (Hazard, KY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Symphonic Black Metal Masterpiece Stormblast is probably Dimmu Borgirs best work. I own all their albums and this one stands out the most. It took me forever to find, but it was worth it. The songs that stand out to me are Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen, Sorgens Kammer, Stormblast, and Dodsferd. I'd recommend this to any metalhead, even if thye dont like black metal. Dimmu Borgir at their best Very great cd from this melodic black metal band hailing from oslo, norway. This was my favorite out of all their cd's. This is probably the best because it still has that raw sound that most of their newer albums lack in. Also the badass keyboards and synths give it that badass atmosphere. So if your looking for some raw melodic black metal you have to check Stormblast out. Also recommended from Dimmu Borgir: For All Tid, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, and Devil's Path. Stormblast album
$9.95 Laying down the blueprint for their own career as well as the careers of countless imitators, For All Tid is one of the landmarks of the Scandinavian black metal scene. Although several other artists had already planted the seeds for the neo-opera approach to the genre, this was one of the few recordings that displayed the potential the genre had to grow. The production is awful, boasting thin and sharp guitars, muted drumming, and echoing vocals that sound like what it might have been like to stand outside of their rehearsal hall. But somehow the songs manage to overcome the production, offering a somewhat beautiful (albeit warped) view of heavy metal that comes off far more ambitious than a band in their position usually ...

Stormblast songs
$13.35 In spite of straying so far from its black metal roots as to almost seem a completely different band at times, Dimmu Borgir still packs a powerful punch on Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. New guitarist Galder (formerly of Old Man's Child) nicely infuses more traditional metallic mannerisms, but the addition of drummer Nicholas Barker (Cradle of Filth and Lock Up) is critical. His always-punishing percussive prowess allows the seamless melding of speedy black metal with considerably more orchestration, this time around provided by the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra itself, creating a cacophony of nefarious ...
| | Immortal Sons Of Northern Darkness CD (2002) Bonus DVD
Stormblast album
$13.35 Immortal's Nuclear Blast debut, and this Norwegian trio's seventh album to date, Sons of Northern Darkness, marks a monumental statement that reverberates throughout the black metal community. Sons of Northern Darkness is arguably one of the best black metal releases ever put forth, as it fully articulates what many other bands of this nature fail to embrace. Thick, meaty riffs dominate the album, as guitarist Abbath shreds the competition with mind-blowing melody and relentlessly brutal power. Abbath also controls vocal duty, and though his voice is darkly sinister, it holds a slight fringe of harmony that fleshes out each song. Add to that Iscariah's fiendish bass playing underlying Sons of Northern Darkness with an evil authority, while Horge's ...
| | Dimmu Borgir Death Cult Armageddon CD (2003)
Stormblast CD music
$13.55 DEATH CULT ARMAGEDDON was briefly reissued with a limited edition enhanced bonus disc featuring video footage and five bonus tracks.
Purists won't call it black metal, but if one has to choose a sub-genre it'll do. The only other thing you can accurately call it is extreme metal. With DEATH CULT ARMAGEDDON, the Norway based Dimmu Borgir has synthesized the last 20 years of heavy music into one very coherent and terrifying album. Along with Emperor and Cradle of Filth, they have risen to the top of their own dark niche.
Like breaking into a haunted carnival at midnight, DCA assaults you with fear and surprise at every turn. Sound effects and atonal guitar harmonies in "Allegiance" set an evil mood; this is going to be fun, but scary fun. "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" is the first glimpse of the live orchestra used to flesh out parts handled previously by synthesizers; few extreme bands have incorporated such ensembles so well. Finding beauty in the chaotic darkness is what ...
| | Today Is The Day Kiss The Pig CD (2004)
Stormblast music CDs
$11.39 Kiss the Pig kicks off with the unmistakable ch-click! of a shotgun being loaded, then, appropriately, starts blasting away. In other words, immediacy is back on Today Is the Day's docket -- where predecessor Sadness Will Prevail was two discs' worth of rambling experimentation and jagged, raucous soul-filleting shards of ugliness, its follow-up is 36 minutes of TITD mastermind Steve Austin's nasty, filth-ridden noise metal fury, recalling 1999's excellent, near-grindcore In the Eyes of God. What hits the listener first and foremost (besides feeling like you're in the line of fire) are Austin's unusual engineering choices; Kiss the Pig flies in the face of his top-notch production jobs (especially Lamb of God's New American Gospel record), the man opting for an effectively raw, lo-fi, frayed-nerves approach that'll have you reaching for the volume knob. And oddly, it works to his advantage, Austin utilizing his trademark multi-layered screams, rabid-dog guitar riffs, and off-kilter rhythms to accurately convey the blackened guts of his deranged soul. So it's no surprise to hear schizophrenic, ...
| | Judas Priest Priest...Live! CD (1978) Bonus Tracks; Japan
Stormblast songs
$37.25 Principally recorded at Chipping Norton Studios, Cotswold, England in 1978. Includes liner notes by Judas Priest.
Digitally remastered reissue featuring three bonus tracks: "Screaming For Vengeance", "Rock Hard, Ride Free", and "Hell Bent For Leather."
Culled from performances on their mammoth 1986 TURBO tour, Judas Priest's second live album, PRIEST...LIVE! was issued one year later. Including some post-BRITISH STEEL songs, PRIEST...LIVE! doesn't quite measure up to their outstanding earlier live album, 1979's UNLEASHED IN THE EAST, but it has its moments.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of selections from the TURBO album are featured, such as "Out in the Cold," "Turbo Lover," and "Parental Guidance," but "Hot Rockin'," "Don't Go," and several '80s Priest classics are noticeably absent. Still, you can't go wrong with inspired versions of such favorites as "Love Bites," "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll," "Electric Eye," "Living After Midnight," and "You've Got Another Thing Coming."
After the stunning success of 1977's SIN AFTER SIN, Judas Priest offered another exceptional album with its follow-up one year later, STAINED CLASS. Though disco and punk were grabbing all the headlines in the late '70s, Priest turned a deaf ear to these new musical developments, and stuck to its heavy metal guns. Rarely has metal sounded so inspired and precise as this album's highlights, "Beyond the Realms of Death," "Better By You Better Than Me," and "Exciter." STAINED CLASS was Judas Priest's third classic release in a row.
Judas Priest's first live album, Unleashed in the East, was a powerhouse, but Priest...Live! is ...
| | Accept Restless And Wild CD (1983) Remastered
Stormblast album
$10.89 In the rankings of heavy metal heroes, Accept are too often swept aside, but they were key in the creation of thrash and speed metal, two of the most dominant subgenres of the 1980s and beyond. Ample evidence for their contribution is presented on their fourth album, 1982's RESTLESS AND WILD. Opener "Fast as a Shark" is indeed that, racing full force with some of the fastest drumming to be heard up to that point. The rest of the album isn't nearly as juiced up, but features an undeniably tough metallic crunch that was virtually unmatched at the time. "Ahead of the Pack" is a spiked wristband anthem, perfect for shaking the foundations of a European soccer stadium, "Neon Nights" oozes after-dark ...
