Real Panic Formed album
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when ...
| | Jimmy Buffett Buffet Hotel CD (2009)
Real Panic Formed CD music
$9.74 Since Jimmy Buffett never leaves his comfort zone, it's hard to call 2009's Buffet Hotel a return to roots but, in a way, it is. Discounting the mock rap on "Turn Up the Heat and Chill the Rosé," this album doesn't even have the lingering ...

| | Lady Gaga Fame Monster CD (2009)
Real Panic Formed songs
$8.79 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus ...

| | Bon Jovi Circle CD (2009)
Real Panic Formed CD music
$11.17 Bon Jovi's 2007 effort, LOST HIGHWAY, found New Jersey's finest brandishing a Nashville-tinged, commercial rock/country crossover sound that wasn't too far a stretch from their usual arena rocking anthems for the Everyman. And where that album sometimes tried too hard to fit into the conventions of trad country, ...

| | Grayson Capps If You Knew My Mind CD (2005)
Real Panic Formed songs
$10.69 It takes less than 30 seconds for the debut album from this New Orleans-based singer/songwriter to pull you in. A lone harmonica blows over a softly strummed electric guitar as a lazy rhythm section props up the beat. Grayson Capps' weathered voice then enters: "Yesterday was a very fine day indeed, I got a pint of beer, went outside and brushed my teeth." That about sums up this impressive yet unassuming bluesy debut from one of the many musicians who sound like what New Orleans feels like: languid, a little grimy and dangerous, but with a sense of history and self that wafts up from the streets. Those who listened closely to the soundtrack of the movie A Love Song for Bobby Long will recognize Capps, as his music was used to excellent effect ...
| | Dexter Gordon Gettin' Around CD (1965) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Real Panic Formed album
$9.45 After two Blue Note LPs recorded in Europe (his adopted home since 1962), Gordon finally made it back to the States to record this mid-Sixties release. Curiously, the two previously unreleased tunes seem slightly out of place with the rest of the record, and feel more akin to the kind of work Gordon's labelmates were releasing at the time. "Flick of a Trick" is a sultry, walking eight-bar blues, while "Very Saxily Yours," distinguishes ...

| | Heather Ramsey So Many Stars CD (2008)
Real Panic Formed CD music
$21.55 "'So Many Stars' is just one of the many that will shine in Heather Ramsey's career." - Chuck Workman, WICR Jazz Show Host". . . an impressive debut." - Scott Shoger, NUVO NewsweeklyThe seeds that would begin Heather (Ault) Ramsey's musical career were planted very early in life, mostly being sown as she was surrounded by her musical parents, grandparents and extended family at their small church in northern Indiana. Family members spent hours out-harmonizing one another at family reunions, church gatherings and holiday meals, accompanied by grandma's sweeping piano flourishes and grandpa's booming baritone. Heather's knack for harmony, improvisation and vocal styling most certainly grew from these early influences. Playing piano and flute through high school and early college years brought in a more classical foundation in reading music and understanding theory and musical structure. In her later college years, however, Heather got her first professional performance training from Purdue Musical Organizations, where directors Brian Breed and Ly Tartell (and several others!) taught her to engage audiences, improve her vocal technique and love live performance. She was listening to everything from Lauryn Hill to Celine Dion, Janis Joplin to Eva Cassidy, and Ella Fitzgerald to Sarah McLachlan, beginning to develop a simultaneous love for R&B, pop, blues and jazz. When Heather first moved to Indianapolis in 2001, she began singing standards with well-known accompanist David Meek at Ruthellen's (now the Abbey) downtown. She then auditioned ...
