Recorded between 1978 & 1985. Includes liner notes by Gerri Miller. Digitally remastered using 24-bit technology by Robert Vosgien (Capitol Mastering). This is part of Capitol's Classic Masters series. The April Wine entry in Capitol Records' midline-priced Classic Masters series is a reasonable best-of culled from the group's tenure at Capitol from the late '70s to the mid-'80s. It includes all six of the band's U.S. singles chart entries between 1979 and 1984, "Roller," "I Like to Rock," "Just Between You and Me," "Sign of the Gypsy Queen," "Enough Is Enough," and "This Could Be the Right One." (Of course, the 1972 Top 40 hit "You Could Have Been a Lady," released in the U.S. on Big Tree Records, is not included, nor are any of April Wine's pre- or post-Capitol recordings.) The collection is weakened by the compiler's decision to fill out the rest of the disc by including tracks from all six of the Capitol studio albums, even the commercially negligible contractual-obligation LP Walking Through Fire, and to balance the choices among them; there are only two selections from million-selling masterwork The Nature of the Beast, for instance. Further weakening the set is the decision to use songs that happen to have been released as singles, such as "Get Ready for Love" and "Tonite," even though they had no chart action, in place of album tracks like "All Over Town" and "If You See Kay" that enjoyed measurable AOR radio play. Covers of the Beatles' "Tell Me Why" and King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man" indicate the group's influences even if they are not among its finer moments. But maybe this just means that Classic Masters is a representative survey of April Wine's Capitol period, rather than a presentation of all the highlights. The 24-bit digitally remastered sound is excellent, and the price is attractive, so the album can be recommended to fans of '70s and '80s hard rock who may have missed this band during its heyday. ~ William Ruhlmann April Wine Classic Masters Songs Classic Masters Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) All of April Wine's Hits All of April Wine's best music on one CD. Where's Vol. 2? Classic Masters is a good collection of April Wine's biggest Capitol hits, but you could easily have a second volume of 12 more great tracks.
01. Fast Train
02. You Could Have Been A Lady
03. Oowatanite
04. Tonite Is A Wonderful Time To Fall In Love
05. Hot On The Wheels Of Love
06. All Over Town
07. Future Tense
08. Crash & Burn
09. Telling' Me Lies
10. Anything You Want, You Got It
11. Doin' It Right
12. Rock Myself To Sleep
The best way to get all of April Wine's essential tracks is "The Hits" and "All the Rockers", but both of these are out-of-print, and are very pricey. Submitted by Galley (Greenville, SC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Great 70s rock band. True. This is THE best of the group...except where is "You Could Have Been A Lady"? Submitted by Keith (Edgefield, SC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Needs "Ladies Man" & "All Over Town" First off, these Classic Masters CDs are top notch re sound quality. the remastering is excellent
Of course, the Cds should be longer (more tracks), but what are ya gonna do?
This is a nice collection, but I'm NOT buying it for this reason:
The CD DOES NOT include "LADIES MAN" or "ALL OVER TOWN"
Both are very good hard rocking April Wine songs that did get radio play in the early 80's
So even though this collection includes other greats such as I LIKE TO ROCK, SIGN OF THE GYPSY QUEEN and their excellent cover of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man", it's omission of "Ladies Man" and "All Over Town" keep me from buying
It's a shame because these two very good ROCK songs could've replaced a couple of those lame, commercial, sappy MUSH songs like "Love Remembered Me" or "Tell Me Why"
This "could've been" a complete and most excellent hard rock example of April Wine.
But EMI needs someone who knows the band a bit better to compile the tracks

$18.55 BOB KATSIONISI started playing keyboards when I was 10 years old and only 4 years later (1992) I bought my first guitar which seemed to excite me much more, as the only thing I was playing in the keyboards till then was the crap they used to teach me in the conservatory.Of course I was only 14 years old then and I had no musical preferences or anything like this. But this until the last days of 1994 when I first came in touch with the music of Dream Theater and other keyboard oriented bands.Soon I noticed some keyboard players like Kevin Moore, Jens Johansson and the mighty Keith Emerson the sound of whose has influenced drastically my way of approaching the keyboards. The most important thing, though was that I soon developed good improvising ability which was the only thing which opened doors in finding more bands to play with as a session member apart from my standard band which has been up till then SKYWARD later renamed to RETROSPECT.Being one of the few keyboard players in my country,Greece that are really into metal sound gave me the comfort to choose ...
