Just prior to the death of guitarist Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne was planning on releasing a live album. With Randy's passing in April of '82, Osbourne felt that it would be more appropriate to shelve the album in favor of SPEAK OF THE DEVIL, a live double set that featured only versions of his Black Sabbath-era material. By 1987, Osbourne finally felt that the time was right to issue the originally planned live effort featuring Rhoads, titled TRIBUTE.
TRIBUTE is simply one the greatest live heavy metal albums ever released. Rhoads' playing is consistently firey throughout, a fact that confirms how tragic his early passing was. The first eleven tracks are from the DIARY OF A MADMAN tour, including such exceptional Ozzy solo tracks as "Crazy Train," "I Don't Know," "Flying High Again," "Mr. Crowley," "Suicide Solution," and the Sabbath nuggets "Iron Man," "Children of the Grave," and "Paranoid." "Goodbye to Romance" and "No Bone Movies" are from an earlier solo gig, and the final track, "Dee (Randy Rhoads Studio Outtakes)," is a stirring solo guitar piece. TRIBUTE confirms that this early solo Ozzy line-up featuring Randy Rhoads was his finest.

the 80's were a golden age of heavy metal. you had cool if really cheesy videos with awsome video chicks, electric guitar players that soar to the sky with the guitar solos but nothing can compete with randy rhoads. i liked 70's metal which is zeppelin, sabbath, aerosmith, kiss. then the 80's came the ozzman, 'tallica, satriani, later period rainbow, sabbath with dio, and all the rest of the brothers who gained fame. 90's however is a dark time for metal, grunge takes over but pantera saved the day!. the 00's well i take it or leave it but i really liked dragon force. the solos remind me of randy but with a hyperactive touch. geit or buy it for the memories of the late guitar player of early quiet riot let's salute the metal faithful who died let's salute to everybody who lost. R.I.P. randy.

The IMMORTAL LINEUP OF '81
This album is cleary for Randy Rhoads. He deserved this album. I love this album. There isn't much to say , but this album came from the Ozzman's heart.

Randy Rhoads has to be the best metal guitar player ever. Every song shreds and the solo on suicide solution just blew my mind.If you are unsatisfied with todays music like rap,pop,and nu metal,this is a must buy for all metal fans!!!

This album was the best thing that ever happened to me, its just the best collection of songs from the two greatest icons in rock. OZZY with his outstanding vocal powers and randy with his most execellent guitar skills.... it blew me away and it will blow you away two. Randy would be proud R.I.P Sir Randy prince of ROCK

Over the past decade, Iowa has emerged as a surprisingly fertile incubator of shockingly heavy music. In early 2002, the small Central Iowa city of Marshalltown gave birth to Modern Life Is War, a band that draws equally on metal and hardcore influences and even (though you might not want to say so in earshot of any of its members) incorporates elements of emo in its approach to guitar sounds and chord progressions. The lyrics are mostly along the lines of "What's wrong with me, I don't know what happened and now I'm miserable," but there's an admirable element of forward-looking determination in these songs as well.
