Personnel: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals); Randy Rhoads (electric & acoustic guitars); Rudy Sarzo (bass); Tommy Aldrige (drums). Recorded live in 1981. Includes liner notes by Phil Alexander, Ozzy Osbourne, Delores Rhoads. Digitally remastered by Stephen Marcussen (Marcussen Mastering). This live double album, released five years after Randy Rhoads' death, showcases a hard rock guitarist whose all-around ability was arguably second only to Eddie Van Halen. Osbourne leads his best band lineup through the entire Blizzard repertoire, plus a few Diary and Sabbath numbers. Of special note are Rhoads' unaccompanied solos, leaving no doubts about his virtuosity, and the studio outtakes of his short solo piece, "Dee." Rhoads' entire output is absolutely essential for guitar freaks, but he sounds even better live than in the studio. ~ Steve Huey Just prior to the death of guitarist Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne was planning on releasing a live album. With Randy's passing in April of '82, Osbourne felt that it would be more appropriate to shelve the album in favor of SPEAK OF THE DEVIL, a live double set that featured only versions of his Black Sabbath-era material. By 1987, Osbourne finally felt that the time was right to issue the originally planned live effort featuring Rhoads, titled TRIBUTE. TRIBUTE is simply one the greatest live heavy metal albums ever released. Rhoads' playing is consistently firey throughout, a fact that confirms how tragic his early passing was. The first eleven tracks are from the DIARY OF A MADMAN tour, including such exceptional Ozzy solo tracks as "Crazy Train," "I Don't Know," "Flying High Again," "Mr. Crowley," "Suicide Solution," and the Sabbath nuggets "Iron Man," "Children of the Grave," and "Paranoid." "Goodbye to Romance" and "No Bone Movies" are from an earlier solo gig, and the final track, "Dee (Randy Rhoads Studio Outtakes)," is a stirring solo guitar piece. TRIBUTE confirms that this early solo Ozzy line-up featuring Randy Rhoads was his finest. Ozzy Osbourne Tribute Songs Tribute Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews before the reality mania. the 80's were a golden age of heavy metal. you had cool if really cheesy videos with awsome video chicks, electric guitar players that soar to the sky with the guitar solos but nothing can compete with randy rhoads. i liked 70's metal which is zeppelin, sabbath, aerosmith, kiss. then the 80's came the ozzman, 'tallica, satriani, later period rainbow, sabbath with dio, and all the rest of the brothers who gained fame. 90's however is a dark time for metal, grunge takes over but pantera saved the day!. the 00's well i take it or leave it but i really liked dragon force. the solos remind me of randy but with a hyperactive touch. geit or buy it for the memories of the late guitar player of early quiet riot let's salute the metal faithful who died let's salute to everybody who lost. R.I.P. randy. Submitted by davidandino83 (chicago) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Audio Mixers: Greg Droman; Chuck Ainlay. Recording information: Black Bird Studios, Nashville, TN; Essential Sound; House Of Gain, Nashville, TN; Oceanway Nashville; The Sound Kitchen, Nashville, TN. Photographer: James Minchin. Arranger: Bergen White. Lee Ann Womack has always been more comfortable with country-pop than hardcore country, sounding relaxed and assured in smoother surroundings. That friendliness helped Womack become one of the most popular country singers of the late '90s, and it's what made her albums enjoyable even when they were a little bit too slick or relied on material that was just this side of generic. There's More Where That Came From, her fifth proper studio album and first after her 2004 Greatest Hits compilation, is still firmly within the country-pop confines, but there's a notable difference -- as the rather brilliant cover art suggests, this hearkens back to the sound and style of early-'70s country-pop albums from the likes of Barbara Mandrell, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton. Not that this is a retro effort, or anything like a stab at neo-traditionalist country. Instead, Womack takes her inspiration from these records, crafting a record that's laid-back but never lazy, smooth but never too slick, tuneful ...
