| | Jay-Z Best Of Both Worlds CD Jay-Z Discography of CDs
(39 Customer Reviews)
What do you get when you combine one of the biggest names in hip-hop with the premier R&B singer of his generation? In the case of R. Kelly and Jay-Z, besides the obvious marketing opportunity, you get an intersection between the two genres that illuminates the strengths of both while simultaneously working on a new paradigm from the middle ground occupied by both artists. "Break up to Make up" isn't the old Stylistics R&B hit, but a new concoction full of Jay-Z's attitude and R. Kelly's vocal power; no looking back for this pair. And with Kelly being one of the original R&B mack daddies, you can be sure that tales of carnal exploits are in no short supply on the appropriately titled THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. The key here, though, is the way Jay-Z's well-documented lyrical acumen is supported by the melodic twists and turns of Kelly's singing, and how RK's sound is in turn made all the more visceral by his partner's in-your-face approach.

Kelly lends his soaring vocal...but leaves plenty of room for Jay-Z's brash, muscular raps..." Jay-Z Best Of Both Worlds Songs Best Of Both Worlds Music Best Of Both Worlds Music Review Average Rating: (3.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Heavy Hitters !!! This disc has got to be one, if not the greatest collabo. of all times. Raw lyrical bar blended with smooth hooks make this a top album. They need to put more on the cd though and quit teasing. AND ANOTHER ONE AND ANOTHER ONE An overlooked gem.Underated by critics in my opinion.Slept-on by some of the ill-informed.Songs such as the haunting"Shorty",the raw emotion of "the Streetz"where the hook warns"son dont let these streets get the best of you,i will stay right by your side when ya goin through it".The Ultimate party bangers"take you home"or the quirky"power of the p.u.s.s.y"with super-underrated genious Devin The Dude.Definitely satisfies either fan but as i see it,how can you not appreciate both.A good listen throughout that under other circumstances, would've sold through the roof. However time will tell,if The Best Of both worlds"lived up to its boasful title.I think another ride in the whip with it is in order. Good Idea, Bad Execution First problem, Too many Fiesta remakes. Next, Kells isn't hard and we know Sisqo is no competition. It was a descent listen. If your lookin to ride and chill, or you got a little jump off with you, it's a good listen. It could've been better. I'm a little dissappointed. They make better music seperately. Submitted by A. | | Jay-Z Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000 CD (2000)
Best Of Both Worlds CD music
$11.19 "Change The Game" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
Jay-Z released REASONABLE DOUBT, his solo debut, in 1996. Only four years later, he dropped his fifth album, THE DYNASTY. Matching his unique off-beat delivery with hip-hop's most impressive lyrics, the Brooklyn-native reinforces the idea that he is one of rap's most profound MCs. Once again, Jay-Z shows us he knows about "big pimpin'" with tracks like "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)" and "Parking Lot Pimpin'," tales about the fast life, women, and money.
Still, the rapper doesn't abandon the street ethics that have made him famous, as evident on the hustler's anthem "Streets Is Talking." Limiting the guest appearances to a minimum, besides his Roc-a-fella camp, he is joined by heavy hitters such as Snoop Dogg on "Get Your Mind Right Mami" and R. Kelly on ...
| | Jay-Z Volume 2: Hard Knock Life CD (1998)

"Hard Knock Life" was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. "Money Ain't A Thang" was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
Jay-Z is a rapper's rapper. He is the lyricist all other MCs want to be, and he has the beats over which every other MC wants to rhyme. His third album, VOL. 2 HARD KNOCK LIFE, further verifies ...
| | Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt CD (1996)
Best Of Both Worlds songs
$14.35 This version of REASONABLE DOUBT contains one bonus track not on the original release.
In the past few years, the hip-hop community has embraced a lot of rappers who falsify their identity with hard-rock gangster images, and created superstars out of average MCs. But where others proclaim, Brooklyn, New York native Jay-Z lyrically illustrates that he knows first hand what he is talking about. Jay-Z mixes original concepts with an imperative rhyming style, showing his versatility on cuts like "22 Two's" and "Friend Or Foe," while still managing to school youngsters on tracks like "Can I Live" and "Regrets," teaching them to learn from his mistakes.
Not only ...
| | Jay-Z The Blueprint CD (2001)
Best Of Both Worlds album
$10.45 THE BLUEPRINT was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
"Song Cry" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Male Rap Solo Performance.
It's official. With his fifth album, aptly titled THE BLUEPRINT, Jay-Z has crowned himself the king of rap music. Laying a foundation for other MC's to follow, Jay Hova presents a lyrical masterpiece. And to make matters worse (for the competition, that is), he does so over a selection of the tightest beats (Jus Blaze, Timbaland) to come by hip-hop since fellow Brooklyn-ite Notorious B.I.G. changed the game. Jay-Z sets it off with a clear and concise statement of his purpose, "The Ruler's Back." From then on, each track dares rappers who tried to test his skills to answer back this time. There's also the cleverly worded (sort of a) love ...
| | Jay-Z Black Album CD (2003)
Best Of Both Worlds CD music
$10.55 In what he claims to be his final release as a musical performer, Jay-Z drops THE BLACK ALBUM, a sprawling, ambitious effort that rivals the best work of the rapper's already legendary career. Working with a who's who of hip-hop's most high-profile producers, the outrageously talented MC adjusts his flow and subject matter to the wildly varied tracks, proving once again just ...

Best Of Both Worlds album
$12.65 Additional personnel includes: Bruce Cockburn (vocals, guitar); Kokayi (vocals); David Gilmore (guitar); Carla Cook (background vocals).
Jazz is one of the few genres that seemed open for real adventure during the early 2000s, and the wild and wacky mix of avant-garde, fusion, and social commentary by Canadian pianist Andy Milne on Y'all Just Don't Know will bend a few minds the first time through. A veteran of alto saxman Steve Coleman's groundbreaking Five Elements band, Milne seems after a unique melodic-rhythmic-improv symbiosis with compatriots like Gregoire Maret on harmonica and with twists off the main chords and melodies from minute to minute. The opening track, "Trickle Down," features vocals by Canadian icon Bruce Cockburn, then MC/vocalist Kokayi (who raps) before evolving into a Steely Dan-like chorus. Then the lush ivory olympics begin (every bit of insanity seems to lead back to Milne's beautifully realized piano chords and melodies). "Neoparadiegma"'s wild fusion ...
