| If it weren't for the music...
....I'd give it 5 stars. I love this flick, but the sound of Joan Baez's voice makes me almost want to go on a killing spree. Anyway, great effects, good story, good acting. A sci-fi classic.

| YEARS BEFORE STAR WARS;
Douglas Trumbull and Bruce Dern got together and made an SF cult classic which introduced 3 droids; Huey, Dewey and Louie in the early 70s, paving the way for R2 D2 and C3PO. This movie a must for any SF movie buff.

| It's a classic!
I remember seeing this movie as a kid. It was my first time seeing Bruce Dern in a movie. When he says "pitiful...just pitiful" to one of his droids, it's just classic! I'm not a science-fiction fan, but what a movie! I'm getting it for my mom for Christmas, because she's always loved it, too!

| Excellent Sci-Fi for its time....
The plant life on earth is failing so a small fleet of agriculture vessels are sent into space to keep the plants alive until earth can be repaired or a suitable planet can be found. Bruce Dern is a crew member responsible for maintaining the environment on his ship. When earth calls and tells them to abandon the project he can't go along with the decision to let the plants die and takes over the ship. He recruits (reprograms) the maintenance droids to help him and even teaches them to play poker and catches them cheating in one scene. You tend to start feeling for these machines like they are children because they are learning new things. Very entertaining and a different kind of role for Dern.
