Additional personnel: Per Wiberg (piano, Mellotron, keyboards). Sounding like a particularly rotten day during the apocalypse, Arch Enemy is a ferocious gang of Swedish death metalers bent on throttling their listeners, and they succeed most magnificently on Wages of Sin. The Scandinavians in general are known most for their allegiance to black metal: atmospheric, epic-sounding, satanic-leaning stuff which they invented. But Arch Enemy, who includes members and former members of Carcass, Armageddon, and Mercyful Fate, is more death than black, but there's a little bit of everything in their mix of Sepultura-like riffage; mid-'80s classic, over-the-top metal solos; meat-cleaver-style hooks; and dirty Florida swamp-style death metal. Of course, death metal can easily become monotonous, but this is not at all the case with Arch Enemy, whose songwriting is way above par. Wages of Sin is the first album from the band featuring their new singer, Angela Gossow, a German blonde whose vocals never sound as if they could possibly be emanating from a woman. Rather, they sound like a guttural blast from the sewers of purgatory. She is just the right touch to add to a band who ranks among metal's most progressive and unique outfits. ~ Adam Bregman
CMJ (3/25/02, p.15) - "...Skillful extreme metal....the album of their career..." Arch Enemy Wages Of Sin Songs Wages Of Sin Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Death Metal at its best. It wouldn’t be too much to write that they are an all star band. Mr. Ammot, Mr. D’Angelo are simply the most known of the lot, but believe me the rest are no less talented. Especially their new vocalist, a fine lady named Angela Gossow, is certainly torturing her vocal chords in a most appropriate way. The new songs are heavy and straight to the point. Their death metal leaves too little to be desired by any extreme metal fan out there. More mature than ever and with enough energy to power a whole town (if not metropolis) the guys deliver another fine death metal album. The musicianship in the album is absolutely perfect and their experience is obvious through every note they play. We should mention that there is a bonus video track, plus a second disc that features some rare songs of the band, making the package a more than tempting one. The great production is simply the icing on the cake and we highly recommend the album to all our death metal readers out there.

Arch Enemy only gets better with a female vocalist They continue to define their death metal sound with intricate guitar melodies which always puts them a head above all the usual death metal bands. Now with their new female vocalist who I must say is very Hott, they've only gotten better ! This Wages of Sin album, which is finally being sold in America without being and import, includes a disc of rare vaulted songs on a second disc ! Each disc is worthy of 5 stars. It's been three years for Mudvayne, three years when metal started to reject its "rap" and "nu" prefixes. At first, Lost and Found reflects that realignment. Vocalist Chad Gray and his mates ...

BOBNOXIOUS www.bobnoxiousrock.com Bob J. Reid-Vocals, Guitar Jeff Bialkowsky-Guitar David Wyles-Drums Stan Fountain-Bass \"Like us or not, you can\'t ignore us!\"-Bob J.Reid It\'s loud. It\'s lewd. It\'s in-your-face. It\'s what made Kiss and AC/DC famous and it\'s what this band oozes from every pore. Prepare to welcome London, Ontario\'s Bobnoxious to the fold of infectious, simple, two fisted, twisted rock \'n \'roll that will kick your ass over and over again. Blowing away Southern Ontario with their electrifying live show over the past two years, Bobnoxious is nothing less than the loud guitars, grooving bass and booming drums any self-respecting rock fan has come to expect, let alone love and adore. With a twist. Featuring four-part vocal harmonies and a stunning visual light show to enthral you from beginning to end, it\'s no wonder that Bobnoxious reign supreme in the world of independent music. Brainchild of Bob J.Reid (voice, guitar) and featuring Jeff Bialkowsky (guitar, backing voice), David Wyles (drums, backing voice) and Stan Fountain (bass, backing voice), Bobnoxious is poised to take Canada by storm. The product of harder times in the life of founding member Reid (best known as the lead singerguitarist for the popular rock band S.F.H and vocalist for one of Canada\'s most legendary and influential metal bands, RAZOR), Bobnoxious is equally as vicious and raucous as any of Reid\'s earlier works. \"I was going through some personal shit,\" he relates, discussing the band\'s primordial origins. \"During those months/years I didn\'t have a band to jam in or write for because Razor wasn\'t doing anything and S.F.H. died. In other words, I was writing for ME! When I wrote these songs I wasn\'t writing for a band I was in, just writing for me so there was no real theme to the writing process.\" Yet Reid quickly found one. \"Well, maybe there was a f**k everything theme,\" he laughs. \"I needed to find a place for these songs; a common ground, so some songs being dark and doomy went in this pile and the songs with an obnoxious overtone went in that pile. That pile became Bobnoxious.\" And what a pile it is. With a foundation this brutal and muscular, ...
