| | Jill Jack Love Hotel CD Jill Jack Discography of CDs
Singer/songwriter Jill Jack has long been lauded and adored in metro Detroit, and this well-produced, full-sounding album compares to her folk-rock colleagues in the big leagues. Her folk-pop, waxing upbeat and cheerful on one track and then confessional and revealing on a sad ballad, contains elements of rock and a soulful R&B. ~ Tom Schulte Her name is Jill Jack. Yes, it's her real name. This singer/songwriter from Michigan is as real as anyone can be. With a voice that can go from plaintive country croon to husky rock'n'roll growl, emotionally honest songs and her own brand of friendly sexiness, Jill takes the best of American music and stirs it into a very special melting pot. It is Jill's connection to the everyday that suffuses her writing and keeps the lifeline to her audience strong and vital. "The fans I draw are the average American," Jill observes. "They're all ages, from all walks of life and backgrounds." She tells, with equal parts wry affection and humorous awe, of going into a rock club for a benefit and doing an acoustic story-ballad ("Rosie") - and then having a teary cross-dressing punk rocker come up to her and tell her how much he loved that song. So, okay; maybe they're not all average Americans...She is an artist in the tradition of songwriters such as Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Woody Guthrie - not so much in style as in sensibility, in the ability to tap into the archetypical American subconscious and craft songs that speak to us all. "I'm still learning who I am, as a writer and performer. Each album is a learning experience. It's all about constant learning, constant confidence-building." Like the above-mentioned artists, Jill Jack's artistry is very grounded in live performance. Her ability to connect to the audience, and her willingness and enthusiasm to meet just about every person in each audience is legendary. "I love being on the road. It's such an amazing experience! You learn so much about other people - the ones you're on tour with, the ones you meet - and yourself. I would love to hit the entire country and just play for people." Love Hotel songs
$15.19 Like most former child stars, Bill Mumy was forever haunted by images of his childhood -- nobody would take him seriously if he wasn't Will Robinson. That's too bad, because his two '90s albums, Dying to Be Heard and In the Current, show that he's worth taking seriously as a musician. His second album, In the Current, finds him making strides forward as a songwriter, turning out solid folk-rock tunes with a strong heartland rock undercurrent. He's at his best when he's tackling introspective subjects, like the death of his friend, Nicolette Larson. Those songs give In the Current an emotional punch its predecessor lacked, which helps make it a better album, as well. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Vasoline Tuner Beyond Repair CD (1998)
Love Hotel album
$10.15 Hello hello everybody, this is Billy Tsounis ,guitarist /vocalist/songwriter for the Vasoline Tuner band. This here cd ,Beyond Repair ,is the debut cd by Vasoline Tuner recorded analog style under a hallucinogenic party atmoshere with a bunch of differently tuned guitars and a band that had never played together prior to this recording. I had initially met RJ Vasquez, producer and owner of TON records when I first moved to Hollywood. We lived in the same building .I moved into an apartment which was and maybe still is inhabited by a happy little stoned ghost that I began to channel and consequently write the initial batch of Vasoline Tuner songs onto a 4 track machine. RJ heard the songs and said lets do a record. Gave a tape to my friend Chris Roy who played bass on the cd ,Pat Vasquez on drums ,met in the studio and went for it without having played together before. We interpreted the songs to each persons guess in 1 or 2 takes with an engineer that was tripping on acid salivating onto the board and requesting the song Louie Louie. So here is a brief explanation of the songs and their atmosphere."Pharmacy", a song about the necessity of aspirin and the consequences of the lack thereof ,like becoming a god, prison sex, and neighbourhood molester status."Mr Ugly" is about having a lot or a little money, living in a video game palace filled with midgets ho's and gadgets."Waiting for granny to die"- it's just about that. Inheritance, recipes and trolling the attic to sniff old dirty drawers to get transported back in time via sniff."Summer ...

Love Hotel music CDs
$16.45 Annie Benjamin is known for her vocal ability to go from 0 to 180 degrees in the blink of eye, driving flute licks and her alt-country-pop melodies and songwriting.Annie has just relesed her much-anticipated second album, Some Kind of Wonder. The project features eleven new songs, an alt-Americana sound that she and Cam KIng produced. It features top notch players, including Martin Muse, Cam King, Andrew Hardin , Freddy Krc and Ross Holmes. She has also put together her own band, called Rocket Girl. The four-piece group has a driving energy that is just plain fun, and has been cleared for take off. Annie decided at the age of 9 that she wanted to be a singer, so it was a good thing that she woke up one morning with a "voice the could stop traffic" at age 16. She first picked up flute at age 11, and at age 13 was recognized by the Texas Flute Club as an "outstanding young player". She went on to study with Claire Johnson at Southern Methodist University. She hit the Dallas clubs in the 1980's and followed various blues artists including ZuZu Bolin, and learned to emulate blues licks on her flute. She first picked up guitar while in her 20s in order to write and accompany herself. Throughout her career, Annie has followed a diverse path. She has performed in musical revues, theatrical productions, and has developed educational programs incorporating music and environmental awareness for elementary schools. She plays classical flute duets at swanky ...
