| Best Of Shooting Star Music Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) Great to find this collection I was surprised and very happy to find this CD collection. Having grown up in Cincinnati I have heard their music on the radio since they branched out from Kansas City. I have been told that they didn't get much airplay except in these 2 cities and I cannot imagine why. I have a complete set of their early albums (Mostly radio station copies) and have been trying to get a good CD version of their hit songs for years. I am so glad that someone put these CDs together. The first album Greatest Hits is better than the 2nd (IMO) but a great collection. Now I can archive my 12 inch albums.
How about getting these guys back together on VH1 and doing a live concert??
Thanks - Great to have
Steve

pretty good best of ! a little weak toward the end but all there great tunes are here- radio has turned there back on this band and thats a shame-again a great cd! Submitted by redrain1 (chicago,il) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Stars for sure! "Best of" Vol I is a great overview of the music of a great rock and roll band. Including songs from albums just prior to their Geffin release, this album rocks with the best of them in classic style. Starting with the classic "Last Chance" you begin a ride that's over all too soon!
Notes: This disk would get 5 stars were it not for the absence of Sweet Elatia, one of their most gripping ballads.
Also, CDUniverse has the first 4 songs listed as previously unreleased. This is not the case. Only tracks 12 and 13 were previously unreleased. Submitted by a reviewer (Redondo Beach,CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Baby's Anthology CD (1981)
Best Of Shooting Star CD music
$8.85 ANTHOLOGY contains tracks from all five of the Babys' albums, originally released between 1976 and 1980.
Digitally remastered using 24-bit technology by Evren Goknar (Capitol Mastering).
This is an expanded version of the then-disintegrating group's 1981 greatest hits compilation. It should probably be listened to as an early clue to lead singer John Waite's new direction in his far more successful solo career; a few of the songs featured here could pass for embryonic versions of the likes of "Missing You."
Not that The Babys music is without its ...
| | Triumph Classics CD (1989)
Best Of Shooting Star music CDs
$12.99 Many people thought of Triumph as Rush Pt. 2, and from their first couple of albums, that comparison was not too far off. Another Canadian trio, the group had definite Rush-ish leanings. However, as time went on, they developed a more mainstream '80s metal approach. That somewhat generic style would see Triumph's star grow somewhat brighter than Rush's for a time, garnering them a lot of radio airplay and multiple hits. The lack of depth and individuality of that latter-era material also would see them burn out quite quickly, while Rush kept making a gradual building, both of musical competency and fame. So, while Rush is still in the limelight, Triumph has joined the ranks of the "where are they now?" club. This compilation showcases many of the facets of both sides ...
| | April Wine Classic Masters CD (2002) Remastered
Best Of Shooting Star songs
$5.15 Recorded between 1978 & 1985. Includes liner notes by Gerri Miller.
Digitally remastered using 24-bit technology by Robert Vosgien (Capitol Mastering).
The April Wine entry in Capitol Records' midline-priced Classic Masters series is a reasonable best-of culled from the group's tenure at Capitol from the late '70s to the mid-'80s. It includes all six of the band's U.S. singles chart entries between 1979 and 1984, "Roller," "I Like to Rock," "Just Between You and Me," "Sign of the Gypsy Queen," "Enough Is Enough," and "This Could Be the Right One." (Of course, the 1972 Top 40 hit "You Could Have Been a Lady," released in the U.S. on Big Tree Records, is not included, nor are any of April Wine's pre- or post-Capitol recordings.) The collection is weakened by the compiler's decision to fill out the rest of the disc by including tracks from all six of the Capitol studio albums, even the commercially negligible contractual-obligation LP Walking Through Fire, and to balance the choices among them; there are only two selections from million-selling masterwork The Nature ...
