While it might seem hard to accept a gangsta rap album by a group whose members have done stints not on Rykers Island but on the perennial TV sitcom MOESHA, this comeback set by the former Soul Train Award winners harks back to previous glories (Onyx released the original BACDAFUCUP in 1993) with nods to the group's first hit single "Slam" in "Slam Harder," and hints that the streets are still not far away on tracks such as "Clap and Rob 'Em" and "Bang 2 Dis." Onyx's street-dirty rhymes and gritty delivery may not sound as innovative as they once were, but in their efforts to keep it real Onyx slips easily into their former gangsta personas, providing at least the illusion of hard living on mean ghetto streets. Here Onyx aren't content simply to slip on the old-school mantle that's rightfully theirs--with BACDAFUCUP: PART 2 they're out to prove they still mean business.

Onyx Bacdafucup, PT. II Songs Bacdafucup, PT. II Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Onyx I wasn't sure what to expect when getting this album, but when I heard it I was impressed. Not sure I'd say all 12 tracks have tight ass beats, but none the less I give this 4 stars. It's a good buy. Submitted by a reviewer (Abingdon, MD, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
tight as hell! Onyx is gonna drop da bomb on everyone, this whole album is nothing but one tight beat after another. They must have really been using there time wisely focusing on these tight ass beats! holla! Submitted by 420 (Anderson, SC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
ONYX IS BACK What a reunion by Onyx. Have I to tell you that I have not heard any of the other Onyx albums. The reason why I bought the album is because I have Fredro Starr's 'Firestarr' and Sticky Fingaz' '[Black Trash]: The Autobiography Of Kirk Jones' and they are incredible. I heard 93' "Slam" and 02' "Slam Harder" they have matured. My favorite tracks are "Slam Harder", "Bang 2 Dis", and "Onyx Is Back". There's a track for the ladies "Gangsta" which is produced hardcore but if you hear it they are praising the women that they are in love with. "Feel Me" was recorded on 9/11 and Onyx talk about struggles they go through. There is only 12 tracks but all are blazin'. Trust me!! Submitted by gts.outlaw (Manassas, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Onyx is back To tell you the truth, I'm not even a big Onyx fan, but this new album is a five mic album. They beats, sound, production is all tight. The one thing about this album I like the best is the way how every track makes you want to hear the next track more. This album right off the bat makes you hungry and when your all done listening to it, your fool. Submitted by dek05 (The Dalles,Oregon) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

It's interesting that Victor (N.O.R.E.) Santiago commences this bangin' collection of thug rap with an apology for his last effort. He was unfocused, understandably, with the loss to jail time of his partner in the erstwhile Capone-n-Noreagea duo Kiam "Capone" Holley. But he rapidly shows he's going to set matters to rights with a swift one-two punch to gangsta rapper pretenders in "Nothin'," and ...
| | Nas Stillmatic CD (2001)
Bacdafucup, PT. II
$6.79 Contains the bonus track "Every Ghetto," which follows "What Goes Around."
In 1994, Nas dropped his debut, ILLMATIC. More than just a classic, it's perhaps the definitive East Coast street hip-hop record, bereft of cliché, rife with rich, inventive rhymes. His early coronation proved both blessing and curse, as his three follow-ups, while shining next to most platinum peers, never reached the ingenious heights of his introduction. Just by the title, STILLMATIC makes obvious its yearning to recapture that feel, a ridiculously tall order if not an impossible one, but it comes dangerously close, which merely makes it one of the top albums of its year.
At times it feels as if half of STILLMATIC consists of shots at Jay-Z, ex-cohort ...
| | Styles Gangster And A Gentleman CD (2002)
Bacdafucup, PT. II
$11.99 As one-third of the intrepid street rap trio LOX, Styles Paniro had seen hip-hop go through a number of awkward phases since the death of friend and mentor the Notorious B.I.G. Biggie Smalls and Sean "Puffy" Combs were the first to recognize the talents of Styles and fellow Yonkers natives Jadakiss and Sheek Luciano. After Biggie's passing, the LOX released their debut, Money, Power & Respect, in 1998, and Styles was always the MC who listeners looked forward to hearing on the track. After the LOX became fed up with Puff Daddy's ...

John Cale's second album stands in great contrast to his first, VINTAGE VIOLENCE. His debut had been a bit of a popish and tuneful surprise, coming as it did on the heels of his work with the Velvet Underground. What followed that album was a collaborative effort, CHURCH OF ANTHRAX, ...
