Anthony Geary, David Bowie, Kevin McCarthy, Michael Richards, Victoria Jackson, Weird Al Yankovic - Director: Jay Levey George, a loser guy, gets a lucky break when his dad wins a failing TV station in a poker game. When pop says he has to sell the station to pay gambling debts, George scrambles to buy the station, which he has pushed to the top of the ratings. But his arch rival seems to have the same idea. Funnyman "Weird" Al Yankovic stars in this comedy as George Newman, a man who takes over a low-rent TV station won by his uncle in a poker game. Newman's unconventional methods for boosting ratings include giving the station's janitor his own children's program -- with spectacularly successful results. Complications ensue when the unscrupulous head of a rival network tries to drive Newman off the air, but there's still plenty of time out for fantasy music video segments and TV bits which showcase Yankovic's talents as a parodist. Filmed in DeLuxe color at Sweetwater Ranch, Aqua Dulce, California and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Uhf Movie Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Weird Al Yankovic is a hero I love his music videos and I love his satirical almost cynical message. Nice cast of actors and a nice concept, but this movie left me somehow wanting. I know they could have done better. The full frame side has much better video quality. Sound quality is decent too. I recommend this if you are a Weird Al fan. There are plenty of laughs but some parts of the movie are pretty raunchy. Submitted by Jake (Sun Praire, WI) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

"Weird" Al in his element Being a fan of "Weird" Al is South Africa is not easy, meaning that finding his stuff in our stores is a rare comodity. By I have managed to find some of his CD's and became a fan. I'm not exactly sure if the movie was ever released in SA, but I was always intended to buy it to see what the man was up to...
He didn't disapoint. Here was a light-hearted movie to show the world what he can do, with his sence of humour. Being someone, who is quick on the uptake and have heard most of his songs, I was delighted to hear his inspired lyrics popping up within the script adding a touch of "Weird" Al style and wit to the movie. It is very enjoyable. Submitted by a reviewer (Meyerton, Gauteng, South Africa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

You get to drink from the firehose The only thing I didn't like about this movie was that Victoria Jackson was mis-cast. Her performance seemed to be fueled too much Prozac. Other than that, it is a comedy masterpiece. Submitted by Gary (Colorado, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
