| Medication Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Great underestimated band and album Medication had a range of experienced talent in their band. Logan Mader, BBlunt, Kyle Sanders, Roy Mayorga, Chris Hamilton and former Ugly kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane who just did the vocals for the Godsmack side project Another Animal. Medication released a full length album called "Prince Valium." This cd was more of a demo/ep. The songs "Something New", "Inside" and "No Direction" which also appeared on the Prince Valium album are on here, but they are different sounding because on this album you can tell the band was still going through the final writing and mixing process' with them. Which is a blast for fans of any of the band members or music lovers period. Plus if you're an Ugly Kid Joe fan and have been wondering what W. Crane has been doing you can get an update for a blast from the past; the same goes for the other band members as well. Medication could have been a band that stayed in the scene for quite some time but because of just some unfortunate bad luck they parted ways in 2003. There are only 5 tracks but the music on this album is tight and solid. It rocks heavy, easy and mellow, and different melody combinations are abundant with this band. The only down factor to this album, which is very small, is the sound due to the mixing. If you're looking for an album or band for some great Alternative-Rock-Metal-Pop tunage, Medication is for you. Even if any of the varieties of music listed above are not your taste. Just for the different variety of music styles alone you should really give Medication a listen to. This band and it's members really created music history here and it went unnoticed on a major scale. That's the industry for you though. I reccomend this for any music fan or any fan of the mentioned names above. I reccomend this album and Prince Valium by Medication as well. Medication
$10.15 All tracks have been digitally remastered. Personnel: Mark Gallagher (vocals, guitar); John Gallagher (vocals). Although considered a very important contributing force to the emergence of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Raven's grip on musical (and lyrical) credibility was always tenuous. With the release of their first major-label offering, Stay Hard, the trio dropped right through the thin ice of lunk-headed, near cartoonish metal imagery and sound. The pounding intensity of earlier efforts like Rock Until You Drop and Wiped Out made up for the intellectual shortcomings of the band's self-proclaimed athletic rock, but on the heavily commercialized Stay Hard, none of this excitement or energy is present to help the band safe face. Senseless tracks like the title track and "Get it Right" are as pointless and formulaic as bad '80s metal gets, and Raven only reference their pure metal roots only once on the (unintentionally) ironically titled instrumental "The Bottom Line." Pure energy and enthusiasm is what separated -- or perhaps saved -- this group, and sadly there is hardly any of it on Stay Hard, a record that signaled the decline of an influential, but limited, metal band. ~ Vincent Jeffries

Unknown Contributor Role: Whitfield Crane. Medication could be considered by some as a supergroup of sorts, as the band is comprised of former members from Ugly Kid Joe, Machine Head, Life of Agony, Dayinthelife, Skrew, and Soulfly, yet while Medication's full-length debut does boast trademark styles from each aforementioned group, it unfortunately is stuck being nothing more than an average alternative metal release. Since the group's formation, Medication has been viewed as one of the underground's most reliable forces in modern metal. As a result, Prince Valium had to be considered one of the most anticipated albums of 2002. There are several great songs captured within this 13-track album, yet it seems that in their rush to land ...

Medication
$15.55 European edition of 1st solo album from Savatage masterminds. U.S. is scheduled for February. Steamhammer. 2004.

Personnel: Jon Oliva (vocals, guitar, keyboards); John Zahner (vocals, keyboards); Matt LaPorte (guitar). Audio Mixer: Jim Ward Morris. Liner Note Author: Jon Oliva. Recording information: Audio Lab Studios, Tampa, FL. Tage Mahal is the first album from Jon Oliva's Pain -- just one of the numerous side projects helmed by the American metal legend outside the scope of his primary vehicle Savatage. But unlike his work with, say, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, there are really no radical differences between Savatage and the dramatic piano-led heavy metal of Pain -- only a slightly darker, more gothic tone, perhaps. In fact, one almost gets the feeling that Tage Mahal could very well have been a Savatage release if the members of that band didn't live so far apart from each other, while the crack heavy metal studio unit enlisted to perform on Pain (and also responsible for vocalist Zachary Stevens' Circle II ...

Medication
$11.89 Side Project Of Justin K. Broderick (Godflesh Founder).
Original Soundtrack/Jesu: Paul Neville (guitar); Justin Broadrick, Diarmuid Dalton (bass guitar); Ted Parsons. Personnel: Justin Broadrick (vocals, guitar, programming); Paul Neville (guitar); Ted Parsons (drums, percussion). Recording information: Avalanche (2001-2004); Oslo, Norway (2001-2004); SubSonic Society (2001-2004). Photographer: Justin Broadrick. Named after the last track on HYMNS, the final Godflesh album, Jesu is a literal extension of singer/guitarist Justin Broadrick's pioneering industrial-metal work. (In fact, Jesu's line-up often includes latter-day Godflesh drummer Ted Parsons, formerly of Swans and Prong.) While the British act's 2005 self-titled full-length outing can hew closely to the crushingly heavy Godflesh sound (see the ominous, rumbling "Your Path to Divinity" and the pummeling "Man/Woman"), the record takes that dark, chilly aesthetic and gives it a surprising degree of emotion and warmth, particularly on the slow, pensive "Tired of Me" and the shimmering "Sun Day," hinting at the dreamy shoegaze approach that Broadrick would pursue on subsequent Jesu releases. Justin Broadrick is a busy man. Which might come as a surprise to anyone who delves into the devastatingly deep, dark world of Jesu. After a listen to Jesu's self-titled first album one would expect the man to be too depressed to get up off the floor. But after a series of incarnations -- grindcore godfathers Napalm Death and Head of David, proto-industrialists Godflesh, free jazz metalists God, dub-hop pioneers Ice, and the ambient electronic Techno Animal and Final -- it appears that Broadrick works out his angst by being prolific. And Jesu does indeed come off like therapy through sound, as lying under the surface of these bleak dirges lies an elegiac subcurrent than can be as uplifting as the angelic hymns of Sigur Rós. In fact, that Icelandic band's soothing soundscapes can be seen as the yin to Jesu's yang, the light to Jesu's dark, the white angel wings to Jesu's black pits of the underworld. But that is where any connection ends, because Jesu is anything but treacle. The songs here seek to render rib cages and remove still-beating hearts for close inspection, to discover the exact nature and location of the human soul, even if it means sure death in the process. ...
| | Chitlin Blues CD (2005)
Medication
$10.79 Liner Note Author: Roger Kash. Despite the title, this sampler isn't a blues record so much as it is a collection of acts working the so-called Southern chitlin' circuit, and as such it leans toward a relatively slick soul and R&B sound -- what is loosely called "beach music" these days. Highlights include the upbeat "Love & Affection from the ...
