Alicia Keys won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. SONGS IN A MINOR won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. "Fallin'" won the 2002 Grammy Awards for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and for Best R&B Song.
Picture Roberta Flack with hip-hop trimmings or D'Angelo coming at the world from a female perspective and you get an idea of the immense talent welling up from musical prodigy Alicia Keys. Blessed with a soulful voice, mature-beyond-her-years songwriting, and a classically trained command of piano, it's no wonder music mogul Clive Davis brought the 20-year old performer over from Arista as one of the flagship artists for his new label J Records. Keys displays impressive range on this primarily self-penned debut that finds her taking part in arranging and/or production on every cut, once again redeeming Davis's instincts.
Besides the well-earned buzz for the gripping love-and-loathe single "Fallin'," Keys earns high marks for fusing rap beats and vintage Aretha on a confidently delivered cover of Prince's "How Come You Don't Call Me." Elsewhere, the native New Yorker's flow finds her traversing the same ground as early-'70s Stevie Wonder on the thought-provoking "The Life," while "Goodbye" proves to be the quintessential Quiet Storm kiss-off. Keys wraps up SONGS with a sanctified mix of stride piano, lush strings, and gospel-flavored back-up singers on "Lovin' U."
Import reissue of the Grammy winning 2001 debut album now includes two bonus remixes, 'Fallin' (Remix Featuring Busta Rhymes & Rampage), 'A Woman's Worth' (Remix), along with a bonus enhanced section that features song lyrics, a video gallery & a screen saver. This import version also includes exclusive artwork. 2002. J Records.

Songs In A Minor album
$12.15 " The Splendid Nobodies play the hell out of their instruments and songs from their fine new album Coming Back Around ... " wrote The Boston Herald, announcing the release of the band's debut record. Later they placed the disc on a list of 10 Boston records worthy of being heard by a wider audience and described the Nobodies' sound as "equal parts Carl Perkins, the Flying Burrito Brothers and The Rolling Stones." The Noise, a magazine dedicated to covering the rock scene of Boston, also raved about the CD saying, "This is a flat out great disc...punchy and full of life. I can't remember hearing a better sounding local album...The band seemlessly blends elements of rock, country, folk, and bluegrass, and somehow doesn't sound like any of them." The hook laden songs found on Coming Back Around blend acoustic and electric guitars with vocal harmonies. They were recorded and mixed at Boston's Woolly Mammoth Sound with local ace David Minehan (The Neighborhoods) behind the controls. Boston Soundcheck Magazine wrote, "Quite frankly, I think the CD is nearly perfect!" and Boston's River 92.5 ...

Songs In A Minor CD music
$14.79 "JEROME" is not another "Usher" or "Chris Brown!" "COMMITTED" could very well cross over to mainstream commercialism, but the soul of "COMMITTED" is rooted in piano based "R&B!" "Alicia Keys" keeps her soul music fresh and that is what "JEROME" does in "COMMITTED!" ____________________________________________________________________________THE ARTIST WITH THAT STEVIE WONDER APPEAL FOR TODAY'S GENERATION IS "JEROME." This Singer/Songwriter's urban flow mixes that New York edge with classy Southern Soul. "COMMITTED" is Produced & Engineered by " JEROME"____________________________________________________________________________"COMMITTED" (The Concept)At some point in life we all find ourselves "Committed" to a goal, to a dream, to a cause, or even to that special someone. Anyone can commit, but to stay "Committed" when the ride is not so smooth at times is really what commitment is all about. Should we always get out of the car when the ride gets bumpy? You know, sometimes we give up on each other, but most of the time we give up on ourselves. Can we ever finish the race if we quit? I'm "Committed," are you? -Jerome-____________________________________________________________________________THE DEBUT ALBUM TRACK REVIEW:*Featuring the R&B Jam "All Of My Days," that keeps you singing like Neyo's "So Sick"*The Latin Inspired title track "Committed," reminds you of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry Bout A Thing" *Jerome's melodic smooth flow on "Love It or Leave It," lingers on like and El DeBarge classic falsetto melody. If you like Maxwell's "Fortunate," you'll like this*The Gospel Influenced "Can I Win" is a clear demonstration of one's inner fight to remain "Committed." This song comes off more inspirational with an urban real life appeal. It reminds you of a song from a soundtrack. From the simple start of the piano and drums, to the building up of congas, percussion, and choir vocals, it shows how the ...
