Crafting fast-paced power metal since their inception in the early '80s, Helloween has followed a very curious and unique path throughout their career. Releasing heady concept albums (the Keeper of the Seven Keys series) and complicated metal anthems while keeping their tongue firmly in cheek, the band managed to stay relevant in a stagnant genre by not being afraid to be different. This two-CD set showcases their career by mixing the tracks together from every point of their existence. This works because the sheer variety is complementary to their accomplishments, even if that variety is questionable when compared to less narrow genres. Still, they were always very catchy and memorable, and every important Helloween song imaginable to a casual fan makes an appearance here. Most importantly, the full 14-minute version of "Halloween" is included, and that song more than any other is a cult classic that has gained notoriety through MTV's insistence on playing the track on October 31st for years after the single's release. Their American debut, Walls of Jericho, is well represented through several excellent tracks, and their aforementioned Seven Keys albums also contribute a large amount of material. Those unfamiliar with the band may find it unusual that they obsess over weird things like proper names ("Dr. Stein," "Mr. Torture," "Mr. Ego") and have albums with titles like Pink Bubbles Go Ape. But that's the charm of Helloween: they don't have the overblown pomposity of Iron Maiden or oddball gimmicks like Running Wild, they just make solid power metal. This isn't for everybody, but one listen to "I Want Out" should remind fans old and new exactly why Helloween is good: they rocked. ~ Bradley Torreano Helloween Treasure Chest Songs Treasure Chest Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Truely "The Best Of" I first bought the "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1" album and I loved it. After exploring more into Helloween I realized it was going to cost me a lot to get all the albums. That is when I discovered "Treasure Chest." Over two dozen hits such as "Halloween" or "I Want Out" make this album a must for any fans that love Helloween, but might not have enough money to buy all the albums. The BEST Helloween collection up to now... To those unfamiliar with Helloween's history - they are a German band responsible for the birth of European power metal, as it is known today. The bands carrier officially started back in 1985 with their debut album "Walls of Jericho" that made the band easily known to the public. Combining thrash-speed metal with classical and melodic elements the band achieved a very good beginning. The bands career reached it's highest point in 1987-1989 with the relishes of the "Keeper Of The seven Keys Part I&II" albums and the addition of the charismatic and nowadays most copied metal vocalist Michael Kiske! The band disappeared for a few years, due to record-label problems, released a couple of unsuccessful but nevertheless good records (91-93) and resurfaced in 1994 with a new line up (+new vocalist) releasing some overall great records.
This double Best Of CD is a wonderful collection of the greatest songs ever relished by Helloween. The songs included are the best known and most epic material of the bands 15 year career (old songs-remastered).
The best songs included here are the classic-powerful-heavy metal tunes: "I Want Out", "Future World", "Dr.Stein" and "The Chance", the fast-paced trade mark Helloween style ones: "Eagle Fly Free", "Ride The Sky", "How Many Tears", "Starlight" and "When The Rain Grows". Along with the over 10 minute epics: "Halloween" and "Keeper Of The Seven Keys", were the talent of the band members in both technicality and songwriting skills shines, as they achieve to deliver 2 masterpieces filled with earth shattering vocals, outstanding melodic twin guitar reefs and solos and fast double base drumming!
Considering the songs mentioned along with the wonderful and emotional ballad "A Tale That Wasn't Right", these alone are worth the price of the album, not even mentioning the rest...
If you can't spend money on buying each album separately this is the best deal you get to buy the best songs relished by this outstanding band, which will surely amaze you even if you are not a metal fan.
This CD covers all Helloween 11 albums, thus including more thrasy, or melodic or operatic or heavy moments, which are all characterized by both outstanding high pitched and hard vocals, fantasy and sociologically based lyrics, perfect guitar orchestration and mainly fast drumming.
Don't think about it, just buy it!!
Will appeal to all Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Queensryche, Rainbow and many more hard rock and metal fans. Submitted by alien (Greece) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

While the Live Evolution set brought home 30 tracks of the Rÿche's concert material -- with or without founding guitarist Chris DeGarmo -- the band's studio output since Promised Land (and some would debate the validity of that album) has been inconsistent. For starters, there was the departure of DeGarmo after the disappointing Hear in the Now Frontier, and then the loss of another guitarist after the lackluster Q2k. Certainly there were moments of brilliance on both recordings, but the inspiration and fire that fueled earlier efforts were lurking behind the scenes somewhere. On Tribe, the band reunites with DeGarmo. The original lineup wrote ...
