Motorhead includes: Lemmy (vocals, bass); Phillip Campbell (guitar, background vocals); Mikkey Dee (drums). Producers includes: Thom Panunzio, Motorhead, Chuck Reed, Lemmy. Engineers include: Thom Panunzio, Chuck Reed, Bob Koszela. Unlike many of the band's contemporaries, Motörhead manages to still release lean and mean rock records, while keeping the songs simple rather than adding some electronic accompaniment or trying to be current or hip. Many of the other bands from Motörhead's era might still be worth checking out live (Iron Maiden, AC/DC), but each of those groups' new albums is almost always more forgettable than the last. In Hammered's "Walk a Crooked Mile," Motörhead has written at least one more classic to add to the band's large number of hits, which could easily fill a double CD. Epic in length and with a cool bassline courtesy of Motörhead main dude Lemmy Kilmister, "Walk a Crooked Mile" has a bit of a punk edge to it like a lot of Motörhead's tunes, but it also closes with a stylish '80s-style metal guitar solo. The rest of the material does not veer from the usual Motörhead formula, but it's all played dirty and in the gutter, and will undoubtedly appeal to Motörhead's dedicated fan base. ~ Adam BregmanCMJ (4/8/02, p.15) - "...Music fit to jump on a hog, free ride through Conservative Town, hit the local dive for a healthy slug of whiskey and finish the day by hosting a full-blown knuckle-fest with some helpless bastard who made a smart-ass remark about motorcycle chaps..." Hammered Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews it rocks! Hammered rocks baby!, this new release by motorhead is simply excellent, there is no song here that I dislike, I have been listening to it maybe for 3 weeks in a row and it seems that it will take longer to leave my cd changer. Some people may dislike the song "serial killer" which is a track where LK speaks with some background music, but the good news for you all who doesn´t know it is that motorhead doesn´t give a damn! they do whatever they want to & when they want it! motorhead was, is & will be the REAL Rockn´roll band of all times! Lemmy is the definition of metal. Lemmy is now the elder statesman of metal, especially with the ever occuring misadventures of Ozzy. He's metal to the core and one of the few men of metal (along with Scott Ian of Anthrax) that have remained commited to metal and their ideals as much today as when they first started. Motorhead is what metal is all about. For over 28 years Motorhead has resisted the need to turn overtly commercial or embrace eMpTy tV (MTV). While we've seen stallwarts like Megadeth and Metallica fall to the wayside or to the temptations of commercialism, Motorhead just keeps turning out great metal in all its raw furry.
And their current album Hammered is no exception. It's just as fast and raw and heavy as their late 70's output, but with thankfully much better production quality. That classic Lemmy growl is everywhere like a refreshing guarentee that what you're about to hear is going to be quality metal. There's not a bad song in the lot, a wholy consistent album from start to finish. "Brave New World" is a biting commentary on the state of social affairs. "Voices from the War" is another great Motorhead war song, there seems to be one on every album. "Serial Killer" is a spoken word poem that shows the menacing quality Lemmy's voice can add. I'd like to hear him read a Steven King audio book sometime! "The Game" is a song that was actually written in conjuction with a pro wrestler, but don't write it off. It's a great song with a lot of power and attitude. Lemmy just adds to the bad*ss factor. And in an industry where testosterone and attitude rule, who better than Lemmy and Motorhead to bring it out. Sure beats NuMetal. Buy it today. Submitted by Digital Dan (Barbertucky, Ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Run out of steam... I can't believe I would ever have the guts to give a Motorhead album a 3 but this one definitely deserves it and maybe less. I don't know what it is but ever since Sacrifice it seems that Motorhead has been running out of steam with each album losing it a little bit. Hopefully they blow us away with the next one. I would say there's one good song worth buying the CD on this one! -O Submitted by a reviewer (Sarnia, On.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Some Joy After All! I was way too hasty in my review for Motorhead's "Hammered" previously. There is great stuff here it just takes a few listens. Unlike the title this group of recordings grows on you as opposed to taking you by storm which I am used to with Motorhead. Without a doubt the following tracks are classic Motorhead and alone worth the price of the CD: Walk A Crooked Mile, Voices From The War, Shut Your Mouth, Dr. Love, and No Remorse, Red Raw. The jury is out on the rest but the entire recording grows on you for sure! I still dislike the bonus track choices as any Motorhead fan would already have these two choices making them non-bonus tracks as far as I'm concerned.
"Hammered" is a must have for any metal fan! Submitted by a reviewer (Lancaster, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
