Start With a Strong and Persistent Desire album Product Description
Start With a Strong and Persistent Desire album by Vex Red was released Jul 16, 2002 on the Virgin label. While the pop sounds of the Strokes, Doves, the Vines, and the Hives were burning up the U.K. charts in 2002, England's own Vex Red drove a wedge into that trendy scene with their aptly titled, rough-cut debut Start With a Strong and Persistent Desire. Intricate electronic layers mixed with blazing guitar riffs back Vex Red's hearty rock effort, and it's definitely a move away from what America knows as alternative metal Start With a Strong and Persistent Desire music CDs. It's smart and catchy, and the emotional roar of songs like "Untitled" and "The Closest" highlights frontman Terry Abott's angry, sweet vocals Start With a Strong and Persistent Desire songs. The class continues on Vex Red's ballad moment, "Bully Me." There are hints of Radiohead and Tool, but Vex Red's structured rock sound indicates that they're not fully replicating what's come before. | Unique Sound Ive been listening to this album for about 3 years now and it just wont get boring...its unique sound and what it brings to the music business gives any music loving fan a reason to give it a go...despite what otehr reviewers may say it is not the same as other bands ...it has its own approach and i think the next album is something to look forward to by counting the days! By Dominic (London, England) |
| A Fair Beginning. In a world filled with similar-sounding hard rock bands, Vex Red attempts to break the mold by taking a more electronic-oriented approach to their music. While it makes for some interesting melodies, once the novelty wears off, Vex Red is unable to escape some of the same conventions of their peers, which is a lack of overall originality. While songs like The Closest, Can't Smile, Untitled, and the title track are definitely enjoyable, nothing on the CD will stay with you days after listening. It's a great listen, and it's a better start than most bands get, but here's hoping Vex Red diversifies a bit for their next album. By a reviewer (Orlando FL USA) |
