Fabric 02 music CDs
$15.05 Michael Mayer temporarily leaves the comfy confines of his good ship Kompakt to deliver the 13th release in the Fabric series. One might consider this the proper follow-up to 2002's Immer, since the Speicher mix -- released earlier in the year -- was more of a specialty showcase for the bangin' techno/shuffle-tech side of Kompakt's personality. This is of the same high standard as Immer in every aspect, from selection to sequence to mixing, and its features are dissimilar enough to circumvent mere sequel status. There are glints of the romantic, noir-ish undercurrents that gave Immer its nocturnal glow, but the sentiment is often playful in comparison and more tailored to a club audience. That said, one of the mix's most chilling moments might give a few people an Immer flashback. Richard Davis' "Bring Me Closer" is as dramatic and haunting as Phantom/Ghost's "Perfect Lovers" -- with its druggy vocals and multiple string elements providing a gloomy balm and a morose tug in tandem -- but the tracks surrounding ...
| | Tyrant Fabric 15 CDs (2004)
Fabric 02 songs
$15.05 The 15th Fabric mix comes from Craig Richards, the same DJ who initiated the popular but unreliable series in November of 2001. Richards' return is a two-disc set credited to his Tyrant alias, and it probably best exemplifies the overall sound of the same-named London club that's responsible for the series -- the DJ is a resident there. The biggest risk taken on disc one is that no risks are taken; Richards consciously avoids anything with substantial hooks, not wanting to include anything that the listener might grow tired of after a few listens. As a result, there's 75 minutes of little more than rhythm and texture. The tracks listed on the back read like ...

| | Clinton Gregory I'D Go Crazy If It Weren't For Country Music CD (1991)
Fabric 02 songs
$17.75 His commercial breakthrough came with "If It Weren't for Country Music (I'd Go Crazy)." His confidence and vocal range shows growth, and the album features "One Shot at a Time, " a memorable song about the devastation drinking can cause. ~ Michael McCall
Born in Martinville, Virginia, Clinton Gregory came from a long line of fiddle players. He picked up the fiddle at five years old, making his performing debut at bluegrass festivals within a year. He came to Nashville at age 12, where his father was playing at the Grand Ole Opry. Encouraged by his greatest influence in his life, his father, Willie Gregory, a fourth generation fiddle player who died in 1992, Gregory says of his father, 'He taught me to learn fiddle tunes as close to the way they were originally written, some 200 years ago. My father was my greatest influence.'Throughout his youth, Clinton found little else but the fiddle kept him on the straight and narrow. The last time Clinton and his dad appeared together was an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. 'Now that's a memory that'll stir the soul and hold you, and never, ever let you go', says Clinton.Once in Nashville, he was quickly hired as fiddle player for Dennis Robbins, the McCarters and Suzy Bogguss, often winding up on the road for more than 200 days a year, something he still does, and loves to do.In 1990 Step One Records signed him to their label. His first debut, a heart-tugging version of the Jimmie Davis classic, 'Nobody's Darlin' But Mine'. What followed was ...

$10.15 Born into a family with a talented musical background, Ian Christopher was born to sing. At the age of six, he had the ability to capture any audience with his high tenor voice. At 10 years old, he made his debut at his primary school principal’s retirement ceremony, as a lead singer of a group of 50 children. Although, Ian joined the choir last, he was immediately selected as the lead singer after his audition. Carrying on his family legacy, Ian continued to spread the gospel through songs around his native country, Trinidad, until he auditioned and was awarded a recording contract with MO Records, a subsidiary of JMC ...
