Bluegrass Mountain Style CD (2001)
Songs Made More Famous By The Movie O Brother, Where Art Thou buy CD music BLUEGRASS MOUNTAIN STYLE was originally released as Rounder Bluegrass Vol. 3 in 1988 and MY SWEET LOVE AIN'T AROUND in 2001.
One of the great strengths of this bluegrass compilation is that, contrary to its title, it offers a very rich cross section of approaches to the tradition -- not only bluegrass mountain-style, but also bluegrass California-style, bluegrass urban-style, and bluegrass progressive-style. For the hardcore mountain stuff there are classic acid grass performances by the McCoury Brothers (whose rock-hard and piercing vocals on "My Sweet Love Ain't Around" constitute one of this album's highlights) and Ricky Skaggs (who delivers an absolutely slamming rendition of the high-lonesome classic "Lost and I'll Never Find the Way"). For a more urban sound you can skip over to mandolinist Andy Statman's swinging "The Whup of Love" or the late Joe Val's Boston-accented take on "Diamond Joe." California bluegrass legend Tony Rice depresses flatpickers everywhere with his fiery and headlong "John Hardy," and Tony Trischka continues his ongoing expansion of the bluegrass banjo vocabulary with his own composition entitled "Crosseyed Cricket," on which he moves easily between meat-and-potatoes Scrugs-style picking and complex melodic passages (Béla Fleck does much the same thing on his own "Texas Barbecue," which also features some fine work using Keith tuners). And that only scratches the surface of this 22-track collection. Highly recommended. ~ Rick Anderson
Includes liner notes by Rainer Maria Rilke.

Rockbitch Motor Driven Bimbo CD (1999)
Songs Made More Famous By The Movie O Brother, Where Art Thou CD music Ori Release '99. Debut album from highly controversial all-female British metal/ industrial group often banned from venues they are scheduled to play due to the fact they perform nude & have sex on stage! 13 trax.
Looking at the background of RockBitch, it is quite easy to see them as a gimmick band of the highest order. Indeed, they are a group who is all female (the sole male on this disc has since gone from guitarist to manager) and perform often in the nude. Add to that the fact that they routinely enact real sex acts on stage with each other (and sometimes members of the audience). Certainly the gimmick image would spring to mind. However, this image and the accompanying sexual behavior are really manifestations of their political/social agenda and belief system. The group is a firm believer in sexual liberation for all people, but particularly women. They are part of a matriarchal, communal, pagan society that puts these beliefs to the practice in their everyday life. This fact is important to know when listening to the disc because it is a central core to the lyrical themes and flavors present. Upon listening to the CD, the image of a group of untalented people using sex as a gimmick to sell product is further shattered. The musicians here (Julie, Babe, the Bitch, Nikki, Epone, Luci, and the Beast) are all very talented. The music is well-written, performed, and conceived. Although some of it is far left of center, much of this material is quite accessible, and it is definitely a very listenable CD. The musical range on this disc also shows them heads above many of the other hard rock bands. You can draw comparisons to Faith No More, but other more diverse sounds (most notably No Doubt) come to mind as well. RockBitch, consider them rebels, perverts, freaks, goddesses, or whatever, but definitely give them a chance. You might be surprised at what you find. ~ Gary Hill
Rockbitch includes: Julie (vocals).

Doomstar! Colors CD (2009)
Songs Made More Famous By The Movie O Brother, Where Art Thou album for sale Hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Doomstar! combines elements of classic and contemporary psychedelic music in an amalgamation of heavy reverb, noise, stream of consciousness improvisations, and straight up pop-rockers. They pride themselves in creating an aural experience that is energetic, engaging, and unique from song-to-song, as well as performance-to-performance.
Doomstar!'s debut album "Colors" was self released on March 6th 2009. Recorded and co-produced by Justin Pizzoferrato (sound engineer for the likes of Dinosaur Jr.
, Sonic Youth, Witch, and Thurston Moore among many others) at Bank Row Studios in Greenfield, MA, "Colors" is essentially Doomstar!:Year 1. Though the record was only recorded and mixed in 4 days in October 2008, it is the culmination of the creative powers that Doomstar! had been fostering through numerous writing, recording, and rehearsal sessions since their conception. "Colors" is assembled much like the bands live performances, combining structured songs with in-studio improvisations to create an sonic landscape; a journey that leads the listener though hazy fields of color and light in a reverb drenched fog. Lyrically the album centers on abstract feelings of introspection, loss, and celestial wonder.
"...Doomstar seem to be completely out of control and know exactly what they're doing at the same time. These are honest, clean-burning dudes who get together and create animalistic spazz-pop journeys that are far more massive and magical than simply the sum of the parts they are comprised of." - Bunce Booking
