Mixed by DJ Marcus Schmahl (aka Guardner), Metro One Collection is a set of downtempo dance music that throws in shades of dubby house and elements of Brazilian jazz. Identikit DJ mixes were a dime a dozen in 2002, but ones that managed to fit ... Metro One Collection Music Metro One Collection Songs | 1. | Senor Sanchez - Bazille Noir |

| | Buddy Holly Gotta Roll CD (2006) (Import) United Kingdom
Metro One Collection
$15.65 Features the complete, yes, all the existing demos cut by Buddy Holly before he signed his first commercial recording contract in January 1956, including the four rockabilly demos sent to Nashville in December 1955 resulting in his first contract with US Decca. Includes his first known recording c.1949 singing Hank Snow's 'My Two-Timin' Woman' both in the usual edited version and the rarer un-edited cut. Also features covers of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs and Elvis hits and celebrated Holly-billy such as 'Gotta Get You Near Me Blues', 'Down The Line', 'I Wanna Play House With You' and the early demos of songs he later cut commercially - 'Don't Come Back Knockin'', 'Love Me', 'I Guess I Was Just A Fool' and 'Baby, Won't You Come Out Tonight'. A treasure trove of history in the making from this popular and beloved performer! A vital piece of Rock n Roll history in the making! Features, alongside Buddy, country and rock legends Bob Montgomery, Jack Neal, Sonny Curtis and Ben Hall! Re-mastered in the classic RevO;a style! Beautifully packaged with rare memorabilia and extensive notes from our man in the 1950s, Mr. Dave Penny! A look at the very roots of Buddy Holly, a performer perhaps loved even more in the UK than in his native Texas! A must for all his many fans, Rock n Roll Historians, and those who love music!
RevOla's 2006 collection Gotta Roll! The Early Recordings rounds up all of the demos that Buddy Holly cut before he signed to Decca, reaching all the way back to 1949 for a cover of Hank Snow's "My Two-Timin' Woman" (available here in two different edits) and concluding with sessions from the end of 1955, just as the Crickets were beginning to take flight. This isn't devoted just to covers and rough songwriting sketches from Buddy -- it also finds him performing duets with Bob Montgomery and providing rhythm guitar and harmonies on tracks credited to future Cricket Sonny Curtis, Jack Neal, and Ben Hall. Given that these are early, non-professional recordings, it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that the aural quality is pretty rough and the music itself isn't polished -- but that, of course, is a large part of its charm, particularly since large portions of Gotta Roll! make Buddy's country influences a bit more evident than they were on his Decca recordings. Most excitingly, it's possible to hear him develop his signature rockabilly on the loose "Love Me" and hear him test out his trademark vocal hiccup on "Moonlight Baby." These, along with a rough but exciting version of Elvis' "I Wanna Play House with You" and Buddy & Bob's "Down the Line" are the best things here, not just because they're the most energetic performances but because this is where Holly started pulling all of his influences together to become Buddy Holly. Much of the rest of Gotta Roll! is devoted to Buddy sticking close to those country influences, either as a leader or as a sideman, ...
| | Mark Izu Last Dance CD (2007)
Metro One Collection
$18.99 Last Dance is a multi-disciplinary work created by Mark Izu. “Last Dance happened over time. Maybe a seed for the project was planted as I worked at the Japanese Senior Center in the ‘70s. Or when as a college student, I interviewed the only Nisei musician I knew, George Yoshida. Later, in 1988, he and I started a swing band of nisei and sansei musicians, the J-Town Jazz Ensemble. The project idea took shape when in 1995, I collaborated with poet Janice Mirikitani at a Day of Remembrance event. It seems only natural to bring artists and performers Brenda Wong Aoki, Anthony Brown and San Jose Taiko, whom I’ve worked with for much of my musical career, all together on this project. My parents, like many others, did not speak about their internment. I learned about it outside of my home. Some stories, despite ...
