Don't complain that there are too many guests here -- that's what this jam was all about, inviting a bunch of friends and kindred spirits to jam in the studio during June of 2001. These musicians were here to salute not just the great James Cotton and his songs, but the long life of his classic James Cotton Blues Band, by playing some of their greatest songs and having a good time. And that's what this is -- a good jam session, performed with heart and vigor. Some of the guests might be a bit better than others, but the band is lively, there's more grit than you'd expect for an all-digital production, and Cotton has moments where he simply smokes. He's constantly a joy to hear; listen to how he breaks into "Jingle Bells" during "The Creeper" and try not to smile. Sure, this isn't the first James Cotton album you should get, or even the fifth, but if you've been a longtime fan, you'll have fun with this. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The Creator of the universe longs to have a relationship with you. The all-powerful, all-glorious God who spoke light into darkness and whose voice commands the thunder and rain sometimes chooses to reveal Himself to His children intimately - to speak to us in gentle whispers. It was in moments like these that the songs on Katie Warren's debut album were written. "The songs on this album were not written in one particular season of life," Warren explains, "so they do not all share a common theme or subject matter based on what I was learning in a given period of time. Instead, the songs together reflect different lessons learned through many seasons of life. The commonality between the songs is that each one was written as God was gently and intimately whispering a new truth to my heart." Katie Warren began singing original songs at a young age. Armed with her blue Fisher-Price voice recorder, she'd sing about whatever was on her 4-year-old heart. The Dallas, Texas native began taking piano lessons at the age of 8 and by the time she was in 5th grade singing solos in church, she had realized her love for using music to share a message. Although throughout high school she wrote songs, helped lead worship for her church youth group, and was active in her school and church choirs, in college Katie spent more of her time being involved in campus organizations and pursuing her degree in Marketing. She did, however, continue to write songs and landed a marketing internship at a Christian record label in Nashville.
