(11 Customer Reviews)
Pioneering skate-punk band MXPX's delightfully bratty insouciance still seemed too fresh in 2002 to have been in effect for a full decade, but that's exactly the anniversary that this definitive collection exists to commemorate. Along with peers like Green Day and Pennywise, MXPX melded the energy of the California hardcore scene with the pop smarts of old-school Britpunks the Buzzcocks to create an accessible but still entirely credible brand of pop-punk.
The sheer drive of the tunes included on this compilation is impressive enough, but when you throw in the abundance of memorable melodies and ear-catching harmonies they sport, it becomes all the more admirable. Containing three new songs along with the oldies, and a thick booklet chock full of information about and photos of the band, this is both a fan's dream and a novice's boon.

Ten Years And Running album
$11.65 EVERCLEAR, AMC's finest hour and one the '90s' most powerful albums, is simultaneously lush and searing, heartache and despair borne out in elegant arrangements that combine fragile prettiness and soul-baring howls of pain. Multi-instrumentalist Bruce Kaphan rose to the occasion of his production debut. The canyons of reverb on the instruments are strangely appropriate, highlighting the ...

Ten Years And Running CD music
$15.25 Truth be told, the Trembling Blue Stars routine was getting kind of stale by the release of Seven Autumn Flowers in 2004. With that album they crossed the line that divides reliable and predictable; no longer did the morose lyrics, melancholy vocals, minor chords and cheesy synths make a positive impression. Luckily for fans of the band, The Last Holy Writer is a comeback of sorts, certainly an improvement, and maybe even one of their finest records. How did they do it? It's hard to say because on the surface it seems like not much has changed sound or mood-wise. There's still a preponderance of downbeat lyrics and Bob Wratten hasn't ...

Ten Years And Running album
$9.69 BETWEEN THE LINES was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Performance.
Mike Stern does what he does very, very well. He has carved out a unique niche for himself among modern fusion guitarists, a vision that combines funk and R&B bass/drum grooves with skittish melodies often involving extended chord fragments. Stern's lead voice is one of the most distinctive in the genre as well, as his chorused and sometimes distorted tone is always prominently displayed. Stern is joined on this 1996 offering by frequent collaborator Bob Malach, a tenor player with a particular talent for laying screaming lines on top of smoking drum grooves as well as ably doubling and bringing to life Stern's often bookish ...
