Pantanal album
$11.99 On the eve of up-and-coming Seattle rockers Mother Love Bone's full-length major label debut (1990's APPLE), singer Andrew Wood succumbed to a drug overdose. Longtime friend Chris Cornell, the singer of Soundgarden, wrote several songs in Wood's memory. These were rooted more in classic rock than his full-time band's metallic sound. Cornell recorded them with ex-members of Mother Love Bone guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament, Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, and then-unknowns Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder, in a project called Temple Of The Dog.
The project's self-titled 1991 debut fell on deaf ears. While such songs as the sullen album opener "Say Hello 2 Heaven" and the epic jamfest "Reach Down" have lyrics that deal with Wood's passing, most of the tracks deal with other topics, such as the album's high point "Hunger Strike," as well as the organic-sounding "Wooden Jesus," the hard rocker "Your Saviour," and the drowsy album closer "All Night Thing." A year after its initial release, the Seattle rock scene exploded and the massive success of the members of Temple Of The Dog prompted A&M to re-release both the album and the video for "Hunger Strike." Both were ...

| | Climax Blues Band FM/Live CD (1973)
Pantanal music CDs
$16.09 Originally released in 1973, this live recording finds the British boogie-band stadium rockers at their mature best, performing their unique take on blues and jazz classics like "Seventh Son," "Going to New York," and "Let's Work Together." There's an extended instrumental passage on "Flight," and "Mesopopmania" highlights Colin Cooper and Peter Haycock's Allmans-style dueling guitars, while "So Many Roads" features a gorgeous Peter Green-style guitar workout, and "Shake Your Love" is a bone-rattling Bo Diddley-esque jam.
Originally released in 1974 on Polydor, this 12 track live album, recorded in front of a very loud & enthusiastic New ...
| | Kelis You Are The Quarry CD (2004) Deluxe Version
Pantanal songs
$18.59 This version of YOU ARE THE QUARRY includes nine bonus tracks and a bonus DVD featuring videos and live performances.
Armed with a new label (Attack Records), a new producer (Jerry Finn of Blink 182 and Green Day fame), and, on the album cover, a Tommy gun, Morrissey immediately lines up his targets at the outset of YOU ARE THE QUARRY. The sharp-witted Brit-pop icon takes shots at the United States and England, respectively, on the biting "America Is Not the World" and the bold "Irish Blood, English Heart." Unsurprisingly, the rest of the album doesn't shy away from frustration-fueled topics ("I Have Forgiven Jesus," "The World Is Full of Crashing Bores"), revealing that the former Smiths singer hasn't missed a step lyrically or vocally in the seven years since 1997's MALADJUSTED.
Enhanced by the guitars of longtime collaborators Alain Whyte and Boz Boorer, the sound here is vintage Morrissey, though a few tracks bear the energetic influence of QUARRY's punk-pop-inclined producer. Standout songs include the gorgeous, dreamy "I'm Not Sorry" and "First of the Gang to Die," a love letter to his unlikely Latino fan base in Los Angeles. While the record clearly marks a new phase for the beloved crooner, it also reminds listeners of why they grew to love him in the first place.
This CD includes B sides and comes packaged with a special bonus DVD. The DVD includes the music video for "Irish Blood, English Heart" and the music video for "First Of The Gang ...
| | Mars Volta Frances The Mute CD (2005)
Pantanal album
$11.49 FRANCES THE MUTE, the highly anticipated follow-up to the Mars Volta's stunning debut, DE-LOUSED IN THE COMATORIUM, finds the band's masterminds, Cedric Bixler Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (both formerly of At the Drive-In), diving further into their bizarre, unique sonic aesthetic. Here various forms of Latin music merge with ambient passages, jazzy interludes, and fierce progressive rock. The Latin influence, in fact, is more evident than ever, with Bixler Zavala often alternating between Spanish and English lyrics, and full-on salsa sections providing a melodic respite from the energetic chaos (particularly on "L'Via L'Viaquez," which features pianist Larry Harlow). Despite the complexity of FRANCES THE MUTE's suite-like song structures, the tracks form a fascinating whole, never losing focus of the group's key elements--Bixler Zavala's stunningly expressive vocals and Rodriguez-Lopez's amazingly proficient guitar heroics. A challenging and fascinating ...
| | At The Drive-In This Station Is Non-Operational CD (2005) With DVD
Pantanal CD music
$13.49 Disc One contains tracks culled from the group's 1998 EP, EL GRAN ORGO, through to its final full-length album, 2000's RELATIONSHIP OF COMMAND (the songs are chronologically arranged), and appends them with a series of rarities (including covers of tunes by the Smiths and Pink Floyd). Disc Two is a DVD with videos, a discography, and extras. Though its life-span was relatively brief, and its output small, ATDI fused the angst-ridden fire of emo, the moody angles of indie rock, and the sonic intensity of hardcore with an integrity that few of its imitators have been able to match. This excellent, well-selected set is a testament to the band's influence.
4 years after the band's indefinite hiatus, the members have decided to unveil many rare and unreleased songs and performances. This anthology pays tribute to their story. It is a collection of greatest hits, videos, BBC sessions, b-sides, re-mixes, EPK, and covers of The Smiths and Pink Floyd tunes. The package includes an 18 track audio CD and companion DVD. The booklet features 20 unreleased photographs from At the Drive-In archives. The anthology spans their entire career.
Given the success and artistic range that the members of At the Drive-In achieved in the bands they formed after their initial group's breakup--singer ...

Pantanal music CDs
$17.99 In the '90s, Buenos Aires was considered one of the cultural capitols of Latin America -- a far cry from the oppressive climate that had characterized the pre-Raul Alfonsin Argentina of the late '70s and early '80s, when the country was under the iron boot of a harsh military dictatorship. The Buenos Aires of the '90s was a hotbed of the fashion industry as well as a nightlife mecca where younger listeners went out to hear Argentinean artists playing rock en espanol, dance music, Latin pop and even rap. But more traditional music still had its place, and Argentines still ...
