Good, but Nothing Special I can't complain about the performance or the general style. Everything was "by the book" power metal. Perhaps that's what I think it lacked - originality. Every song on the CD I felt I had heard before. Still, it was fun to listen to, and worth keeping, and you have to love the groovy artwork. Submitted by Duncan (Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Fourth Legacy
$15.19 Most metal magazines have rated this album "Best Of The Month" and gleefully singing its praises, like Burrrn, Metal Heart, Monster and Metal Invader.
Kamelot/The Blood Brothers: Khan (vocals); Thomas Youngblood (guitar); Glenn Barry (bass instrument); Casey Grillo (drums). Additional personnel: Jens Johansson, Shagrath. Crimes is Blood Brothers' V2 debut, and their fourth album overall. The quintet is still led by blaring, interwoven vocals of Johnny Whitney and Jordan Blilie. One screams and yelps in a very high register, the other is not so high, but still great at screaming. The Brothers' basic sound is jagged and post-punk-derived, full of hyper percussion and jerking, screeching guitars. But while this might sound like chaos, it's not. Like Whirlwind Heat or the Icarus Line, the Blood Brothers always provide a counterweight to their noisier, ...

Fourth Legacy
$14.15 Kamelot: Khan (vocals); Thomas Youngblood (guitars); Oliver Palotai (keyboards); Glenn Barry (bass guitar); Casey Grillo (drums). Additional personnel: Sascha Paeth (guitars); Miro (keyboards); Amanda Sommerville, Thomas Rettke, Robert Hunecke, Cinzia Rizzo, Rizzo (background vocals); Simone Simons. Metal maestros Kamelot scored a major triumph with 2007's landmark symphonic opus, GHOST OPERA. An evocative blend of bulldozer metal, twisting prog, and grand, opulent strings, GHOST OPERA'S fusion of classical and heavy sounds was about as seamless a finished product as the genre's ever seen. With this reissue, the band has added on a second disc of thrilling live material, showcasing Kamelot's significant chops from a show in old-world Belgrade, Serbia. Live songs like the oppressive "The Human Stain" and the epic, windswept title track take on a whole new dramatic ...

| | Carcass Symphonies Of Sickness CD (1989)
Fourth Legacy
$13.39 Personnel: Jeff Walker (vocals, bass), Bill Steer, Ken Owen, Mike Arnott (guitar). English amateur medical enthusiasts Carcass are considered to be one of the most innovative and genre-expanding bands in both death metal and grindcore. Their second album, SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS, was a cooling off of the hellish molten core that their first album created. In place of furnace blasts, the songs on SYMPHONIES stretch out--at times at or around five minutes--playing with song structure and lyrical clarity. Jeff Walker's anatomical textbook grunts are more intelligible this time around, and songs like "Empathological Necroticism" embrace grind's intensity and death metal's complexity in equal measure. If Reek of Putrefaction was one series of brusque, quick, and brute explosions after another, Symphonies of Sickness, as its title indicated, is something of a complex step up. None of the power is lost at all, but thanks to a combination of crisper recording and a desire on the part of the band to stretch things out a bit more -- three- to five-minute-long songs and so forth -- Carcass ...
