Let's Dance Salsa - Intermediate Lessons video
$8.55 This is an Enhanced/Hyper CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and, multimedia computer files, and provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser.
On her long-awaited debut, Lil' Mo shows why stars like Jay-Z, Ja Rule, and Keith Sweat were so anxious to feature her on their own albums. The Big Apple rapper and singer is a protégé of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot, but where Elliot's game is cutting lines and cutting-edge hip-hop, Lil' Mo is a lil' more subtle, preferring to tap into her roots in old-fashioned gospel and R&B. That's not to say this album lacks the requisite up-tempo club thumpers -- "Gangsta" and "Superwoman, Pt. 2" certainly fill that bill. It's just that when things mellow out a bit, Mo really shines -- on sweet slow jams like "How Many Times," or on the stunning, bitter kiss-off, "Ta Da." Probably the best reference point for Lil' Mo's winning blend of street smarts and classic soul divaship is Mary J. Blige, and Based on a True Story suggests that Blige could have some serious competition in the years to come. ~ Dan LeRoy

| | Kelly Price Priceless CD (2003)
Let's Dance Salsa - Intermediate Lessons review
$12.65 "He Proposed" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.
On her fourth album, R&B siren Kelly Price continues to seamlessly meld pop, funk, hip-hop, and R&B. After a brief intro, she comes out swinging with a state-of-things tune ("Someday") that stands as a vow to make one's way against all odds. Shifting to a more romantic perspective, "You Make Me Feel" perfectly captures that start-of-the-affair giddiness, and its popwise melodiousness compares favorably to vintage Chaka Khan. The classic dodge-and-weave batttle of the sexes is given voice as the hip-hop side of things enters the picture on "Take it to the Head," featuring some guest rapping from Keith Murray, who jousts admirably with Price. After several more musical twists and turns, PRICELESS closes out on a spiritual note with the gospel-oriented "You are the Sunshine," whose sunny declarations of faith (with vocal assistance from the Clark sisters) end things on quite the positive note.
Composer: Warryn Campbell.
Personnel: Kelly Price (vocals, background vocals); Faith Evans (vocals, background vocals); Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda ...
| | Lil Mo Meet The Girl Next Door CD (2003)
Let's Dance Salsa - Intermediate Lessons DVD
$9.09 With a stretch-Hummer limo-load of talent, creativity, and confidence only hinted at on her debut, Lil' Mo throws down for real on MEET THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, her exceptional sophomore effort. First off, Mo is a genuine soul singer. Unlike some of her scale-running, scat-happy contemporaries, every note the diminutive vocalist utters sounds absolutely necessary. Of course it helps that the Lil' Miss is a heck of a songwriter too; the disc finds her organically mixing and matching elements of old-school R&B, new jack swing, and Philly soul as easily as other divas choose ...

| | Hancock DVD (2008) Unrated Single Disc Version
Let's Dance Salsa - Intermediate Lessons review
$12.05 Peter Berg (THE KINGDOM, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) directs this story of a reluctant superhero, John Hancock (Will Smith). Like the best superheroes, Hancock can fly, is bulletproof, and has insurmountable strength. He uses these gifts to fight crime in Los Angeles and save people in distress, Unfortunately, he also is a drunk who leaves a trail of costly destruction behind during his lifesaving pursuits, and his constant sarcasm fails to win him friends. But after Hancock randomly saves his life, public relations executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) decides to give him a makeover and help the superhero change his image so that the police and citizens of Los Angeles will realize how much they need their seemingly inappropriate hero. All the while, Ray's wife, Mary (Charlize Theron)--who seems to simultaneously have a strange connection and aversion to Hancock--worries that her do-gooder husband will end up disappointed by Hancock's antics.
The special effects are quite impressive, as Hancock flies through Los Angeles crashing into buildings, bursting through freeway ...
