All songs written by Nick Holmes and Gregor Mackintosh except "Yearn For Change" (Gregor MacKintosh/Nick Holmes/Steve Edmondson/Lee Morris) and "I See Your Face" (Gregor MacKintosh/Nick Holmes/Aaron Aedy).
"Forever Failure" includes a sample of Charles Manson's voice from the British television documentary "Charles Manson - The Man Who Killed The Sixties."
DRACONIAN TIMES was released in Europe in June 1995, and in the U.S. in January 1996.
Paradise Lost's Draconian Times falls between stark, oppressive goth rock and crunching heavy metal. It's a bit more experimental than their earlier efforts, as it displays subtle industrial influences -- there's the occasional barrage of samples -- as well as more keyboards and a chorus, perhaps appropriately dubbed the "Dead Boys Choir." Draconian Times is intentionally unwelcoming music, but those who want to dwell deep inside its twisted corridors will find a few pleasures. Paradise Lost may not be terrific songwriters, but they can create and sustain a mood. ~ Daevid Jehnzen

Draconian Times album
$9.99 Though the relative merits of Paradise Lost's bizarre transformation from heavier-than-God doom/death metal originators to an alternative rock act delving into gothic electronica remain locked in a fierce debate, there's no sense ignoring two unmistakable facts. First, the band had clearly reached the end of its original direction's tether with 1995's Draconian Times, which, despite its success with fans and solid songs, was little more than a retread of the band's previous album, and arguably career-apex, Icon. Second, while their subsequent sonic ...

| | Therion Sirius B/Lemuria CDs (2004)
Draconian Times music CDs
$16.55 Therion mastermind Christofer Johnsson has never recovered from hearing the choir come in at the end of Ozzy Osbourne's "Diary of a Madman." While 2002's Secret of the Runes, a conceptual work celebrating the nine different worlds of Norse mythology, was technically flawless and endlessly atmospheric, its orchestral and choral wall of sound seemed pasted on rather than successfully integrated into the electric onslaught. After a two-year hiatus, Therion return with not one but two records, the blistering, elegiac, and overall stunning Lemuria/Sirius B. This time around, the Scandinavian heavy metal equivalent of the Moody Blues eulogizing a Viking funeral have mastered their dark art and created the finest record of their career. Fans of the group's early, orchestra-free death metal period, as well as those converted by the band's forays into classical and opera, will find common ground here. The bombast of tracks like "Abraxas" -- its solemn trumpet intro sounds infinitely ...
| | Death Angel Archives & Artifacts CDs (2005) With DVD; Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Draconian Times songs
$35.89 Relive the early days of legendary thrash metal from Death Angel! This deluxe set includes an exclusive collection of long-lost video archives from the Death Angel vaults, including rare p-erformances filmed in their rehearsal space and their classic early music video, along with newly remastered and expanded versions of the first two albums "The Ultraviolinece" and "Frolic Through the Park". The third full-length CD features never before released recordings from the classic era, including demos and live material.
Coming up from the same Bay Area metal scene that spawned the likes of Metallica and Exodus, Death Angel carved out a niche for themselves with a style of thrash metal that also included traces of prog. And while they never received the same amount of attention as their aforementioned "big brothers" did, Death Angel built a loyal cult following and earned quite a few video spins on Headbangers Ball during the late '80s/early '90s. Less than a year after the release of Death Angel's first studio album in over a decade (2004's Art of Dying) came a three-disc box set of rarities, Archives and Artifacts. Focusing entirely on the group's early years, the set contains remastered ...

Draconian Times music CDs
$11.45 For a while there, it didn't look like Place of Skulls would ever release a third album, having announced their breakup following an exciting but not surprisingly doomed-to-be-brief ("doom," get it?) association with journeyman Scott "Wino" Weinrich (Saint Vitus, the Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, etc.) on their stellar sophomore album, With Vision. Not one to play second fiddle to anyone, Wino was soon moving on to found new band the Hidden Hand, leaving Place of Skulls founder and former Pentagram guitarist Victor Griffin to initially pack it in before deciding to simply reassume the role of single frontman role for 2006's The Black Is Never Far. ...
