By 1976, bassist Bootsy Collins' career was flying high, as he was both a member of Parliament (who had made the jump to headlining arenas), as well as fronting his own group, Bootsy's Rubber Band. The same year, Collins was pulling double duty on the concert stage, as his band was opening for Parliament, and he was supplying bass for both. The 2004 archival release Live in Oklahoma 1976 shows why many consider Collins to be one of (if not the) top funk bassists of all time, as his infectious bass playing and personality singlehandedly get the party started. Tracks such as "Psychoticbumpschool" show that Collins also helped shape P-Funk's more dance-friendly approach in the '70s (the song would sound perfectly in place on one of P-Funk's albums from the era), while the set-closing "Stretchin' Out (In a Rubber Band)" adds some horns into the mix. Live in Oklahoma 1976 is definitely one of the better '70s-era live funk albums to be released thus far. ~ Greg Prato
Bootsy's Rubber Band captured live soon after their birth as a breakaway band from the Parliament-Funkadelic mothership. It was just after the release of their debut album "Stretchin Out In Bootsy's Rubber Band" and they were absolutely on fire! Pick up
Bootsy's Rubber Band includes: William "Bootsy" Collins (vocals, bass).

$10.89 Legendary Funkadelic guitarist Eddie Hazel is in fine form and really cuts loose on these tracks from a 1975 studio session and now available on this EP. Tracks are: Smedley Smorganoff - instrumental, Lampoc Boogie - instrumental, From the Bottom of My H
Eddie Hazel rose to fame in the early '70s as part of George Clinton's Parliament/Funkadelic troupe. An extremely talented and underappreciated guitarist/songwriter, Hazel had no problem nailing down Hendrix-like guitar freakouts ("Maggot Brain") or nasty, straight-up funk ("Loose Booty," "Red Hot Mama"). Although drug abuse would hinder his talents (he went to prison in the late '70s and eventually died in 1993 because of it), Hazel still came ...

$12.19 With this album, years of personnel changes ended for Fleetwood Mac with the departure of guitarist Bob Welch. The remaining core of the group (Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie) invited guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks to join, and thus began the most commercially successful period for Fleetwood Mac. With 3 strong songwriters in Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie, FLEETWOOD MAC was their first number-1 album.

Live In Oklahoma 1976 music CDs
$14.19 On one hand we have Sons Of Otis – veterans, and legends even, in the realm of stoner/doom, notoriously famous for producing some of the heaviest space rock humans have ever experienced. In their first release since 2004’s spectacular X, the band produces two tracks that are unsettling in their barren atmosphere, with piercing other-wordly sounds attacking from the glow of a distant planet. We can almost sense a ghost running amidst the Siren cries of Ken Baluke’s guitar and the grumble of Frank Sargeant’s low end, sending chills down our backs and transmitting images of horror through the air. Thirteen years into the game, Sons Of Otis are again pushing the boundaries of the music they’re playing, challenging the accepted conventions of music. “Tales Of Otis” is fundamentally a single, trudging bass riff that is surrounded by terrifying wails from Baluke’s guitar while “Oxazejam” sounds slightly more traditionally Otis, with scorching blues riffage that sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard. “Sons Of Otis are heroes... ‘Tales Of Otis’ has less notes than I have fingers and yet ...

$14.49 There are some myopic individuals in the jazz world who dislike any music that isn't straight-ahead acoustic jazz; they dislike rock, funk, and hip-hop as much as they dislike country. But there are also skillful musicians who can play jazz quite well but also have strong non-jazz credentials, and pianist/keyboardist/composer Mike Garson is one of them. Garson is best known in the rock world for his long association with David Bowie -- an association that is highly appropriate given Bowie's chameleonic nature and Garson's impressive ability to adapt to ...
