Although Toto's second and third albums (HYDRA and TURN BACK, respectively) didn't fare well commercially, especially when compared to the group's self-titled debut, 1982's TOTO IV brought the band to a whole new level of success. The cadre of Los Angeles session players pooled their talents to create a potent form of market-savvy arena rock, which resulted in the inescapable smash singles "Rosanna" and "Africa." While those two tunes, both penned (at least in part) by keyboardist David Paich, easily outshine the rest of TOTO IV, the record does feature enjoyable, upbeat songs such as "Make Believe" and "We Made It," which showcas

Toto IV Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Classic album with 5.1 edge! Simply put, Toto IV is one of the best albums ever recorded. The 5.1 sound didn't really knock me over though, and I thought Luke's guital solos were slightly muddled and somewhat altered during the mixing. The background vocals during "I Won't Hold You Back" seemed to be a little less layered with Timothy Schmit's soft vibrato and slightly rougher. Overall, the sound was OK, but honestly this record would be impressive even if played through cups connected by a string. Submitted by Kirk (West Texas, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Natural sound!!! I have this on vinyl, and in my opinion, it's very difficult to say wich one sounds better. One the oher hand, the SACD version adds surround sound (5.1) that I love. So, if you still got any doubt to buy this or not, I say YES!.

DARK SIDE OF THE MOON was a benchmark record. It turned the musical world on its ear with a hitherto unseen combination of sounds, and changed things considerably for Pink Floyd. For this project, Pink Floyd resurrected older and unfinished numbers, some of which came from the multitude of soundtracks the band members had previously worked on. The film ZABRISKIE POINT, a study of American materialism from a foreigner's perspective, provided "Us and Them" (originally titled "The Violence Sequence"). Waters rewrote "Breathe" after its appearance on his and avant-garde composer Ron Geesin's score for THE BODY, a surreal medical documentary.

One of the most popular albums of the 1970s and an early landmark of the singer-songwriter scene, TAPESTRY spawned numerous hit singles and is now rightly considered one of pop's finest albums. This two-disc Legacy Edition features the original album in pristine remastered form and a second disc comprising live solo piano renditions of all 12 songs, recorded between 1973 and 1976, as well as extensive liner notes and photographs.
TAPESTRY was one of the most popular albums of the 1970s, perfectly capturing the intimate, confessional mode of the singer/songwriter genre then in bloom, yet without the mawkishness or posing that later typified the style. Though Carole King had been successful in the '60s as a behind-the-scenes composer of Brill Building pop, her decision to perform her own material brought its craftsmanship and sincerity to the fore. In addition, everything about TAPESTRY, from its warm soft-rock arrangements to its cover art (which shows King lounging in her apartment in bare feet, a sweater and jeans), suggested something different. This was the casual, personal music of interiors, without any of the make-up of traditional pop.
Some of the songs King penned for others, including "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" (a hit for the Shirelles' in 1961) and "(You Make Me Feel) Like a Natural Woman" (a hit for Aretha Franklin ...
