DIRTY VEGAS was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award For Best Recording Package.
For those who remember the days when electronica was known simply as disco, this collection of instrumental and vocal tracks should bring back some happy memories. If you think you've never heard Dirty Vegas before, they supply the music to the car commercial where the trendy girl is being driven around town (either looking for the next hot club or a parking space) doing various robotic movements to a spare electronic backing track. The rest of the set sounds similar; midtempo beats, infectious tunes, and some passably hip-hop-like vocals courtesy of this British trio's otherwise decidedly pop-oriented singer Steve Smith.
Undeniably commercial, Dirty Vegas' simple, uncluttered sound harks back to the early '90s, when electronica was in its infancy, from the motoring "The Brazilian" to the hypnotic "Ghosts," while the full version of the car-commercial song, a.k.a. "Days Go By," is pure manna from dancefloor heaven. Dirty Vegas provides electronica for all seasons, suitable for easy listening or grooving--proving that those ad agencies don't get the big bucks for nothing.

I find dirty vegas to be easy listening with a nice groove. I've left this CD on repeat without having to resort to violence, though 2 hours IS maximal listening. I'm thoroughly fond of them. You have to take them at face value so just do what you need to do and enjoy them. Very smooth.

Dig "Days Go By". Boogie to practically everything. Find a veritable plethora of provative, thought-provoking, dramatic lyrics! "Still a whisper on my lips." I'm a fan! (A 'woogie' is required!)

While perhaps a little one-dimensional,
Dirty Vegas is very good as what they do (techno). I was pleased with a few tracks
that I had not heard before purchasing this
CD.

Found the music to be great to really turn up loud at parties or just to have quietly playing on the headphones... a definite buy.
Wonderful variety with some great acoustic tracks as well as the slightly different dance rythms that show the talent and effort put in.

Well, the question is no longer whether she's a little girl or a woman--Britney Spears has obviously been the latter for some time. The question now is how long she'll be able to pretend at keeping us guessing, and how long we'll pretend not to know the answer. With BRITNEY she continues the dance of corrupted youth and innocence to the delight of both her female fans and dirty old and young men everywhere.
While it's by no means the best song on the album, the ballad "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" ...
