CONFESIONES was nominated for the 2003 Latin Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Tropical Album.
The traditional folk music of the Dominican Republic known as bachata started becoming a dominant style in the tropical music field after the release of Juan Luis Guerra's Bachata Rosa in 1990. The duo Monchy & Alexandra, consisting of Ramón Rijo and Alexandra Cabrera de la Cruz, emerged in the late '90s as the music grew in popularity both in the Caribbean and in Latin communities of the U.S. After issuing the chart-topping "Hoja en Blanco" in 2001, the Dominican ensemble returned in March 2002 with Confesiones, featuring the hit singles "Dos Locos" and "Te Quiero Igual Que Ayer," delivered in bachata, Latin pop ballad, and merengue styles. This 14-track record remained for several weeks on the Billboard chart of top Latin albums. ~ Drago Bonacich Monchy & Alexandra Confesiones Songs Confesiones Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Really Good It has a couple of their most popular songs, and the rest are just nice and great to listen to. Best Bachata I love Bachata, this is the best CD I have. I hunted for it for a long time and this is the only place I found it, it sells out fast. Submitted by lacey (Philadelphia, PA & San Diego, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Four years later it is still as fresh as today Monchy and Alexandra could have released this albumn AFTER the hit filled "Hasta el Fin" and there still would have been rave reviews from the Latin music audience. The keystone song, "Te Quiero Igual Que Ayer", is a gets-stuck-in-your-head classic Bachata in the first cut and also makes a fine balad in the final track. Incredibly, track twelve contains this song a third time in one of the best produced orchestral merengues to ever come out of the Dominican Republic ... which is saying something, papá! Bachata hits "Dos Locos" appears on this album, as does "En Un Dos Por Tres" so you can just add a few friends and a case of Presidente and you have a party.

| | Christy Kilpatrick CD (2007) (Import)
Confesiones CD music
$17.09 Brace yourself: Dynamic Brisbane songstress Christy Kilpatrick is set to release her self-titled debut album. But you have a little time to run a background check first, so you can claim you knew her all along. A gifted storyteller with a passion for pure, unpretentious melodies, Christy Kilpatrick unveils the beauty of everyday experiences through song. Walking the line between alternitive-folk and country- roots, she melds infectious harmonies with a spirited exploration of life, love and things that go bump in the night. Christy's album is a collection of songs that are immediately accessible and contagious, in an engaging, worldly sense. Whether celebrating simple light-hearted moments or delving through oceans of pain for meaning and direction, she exposes a thread of raw, honest emotion that can be universally understood. The result is an elegant, stimulating journey - an inspired fusion of sweet and sour. Christy's soothing vocals and soaring country-tinged arrangements invite comparisons with the likes of Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss, Sarah McLauchlan, and Sheryl Crow. Her album is the soundtrack to a dusk road trip adventure - chasing a warm Spring sunset through grassy, winding dirt roads - with the windows down. Maybe not in a ute though. Perhaps this is a product of Christy's commuting between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast during the gestation of this record - performing residencies at established Noosa and hinterland venues, amid regular shows at key Brisbane venues. Kilpatrick assembled an eviable ensemble to perform on this stunning debut, borrowing the likes of Lee Fielding, Ben McCarthy and Pete Williamson (from Pete Murray's band The Stonemasons), Tim Webb and Dave Sanders (Acre), Gleny Rae and Mal Winkle. With a music degree from the Queensland Conservatorium, Kilpatrick is no slouch on the instruments herself - but making a record is so much more fun with a posse. And the richness of that vibe comes through in the finished product. Recorded at Rockinghorse Studios in the Byron Bay hinterland guided by the magic ears of Anthony Lycenko and at GTO in Brisbane by herself and Lee Fielding, you can expect Christy Kilpatrick's debut album is a hot release to get your hands on. "Christy Kilpatrick represents the new generation of Australian country. Her songs are multilayered, perceptive and full of light and shade. She combines sweet, simple melodies, intriguing lyrics and a profound understanding of the human condition to create exquisitely crafted and highly appealing songs."Susan Jarvis, Capital News - Australian country magazine and ABC Radio Saturday Night Country. "A very strong first single, well suited to radio and one that deserves as much promotion, airplay ...
