| | Black Crowes By Your Side CD Black Crowes Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
In the three years since their last album, the Black Crowes either lost or fired band members, got sued, switched labels and saw marriages break-up. Rather than be cowered by these obstacles, the band regrouped and put out an album bristling with energy and soaked in sturdy riffs and passionate singing. With the Crowes reduced to a quintet for the recording of BY YOUR SIDE, Rich Robinson played all lead and rhythm guitar for the first time and particularly shone on the sassy funk of "Heavy" and the slide-happy "Kicking My Heart Around." The female back-up singers, fat guitar tone and Chris Robinson's raspy singing turned the title track into the kind of solid rock & roll that Rod Stewart used to churn out effortlessly early in his career.
Although the wah-wah drenched "HorseHead" is a heavy stomper of a song, the Crowes got wistful on "Welcome To The Goodtimes" and churned out Curtis Mayfield-flavored soul with "Go Tell The Congregation." Keyboardist Eddie Harsch remained the band's unsung hero as his liberal doses of Hammond organ and electric piano seasoned songs such as the rollicking "Then She Said My Name" and the psychedelic-flavored sanctity of "Virtue And Vice."
Recorded at Avatar Studios, New York, New York.

By Your Side album
$6.19 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."

| | Black Crowes Shake Your Money Maker CD (1990) Remastered
By Your Side CD music
$13.95 This is an enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
This CD is also available as part of the 5-CD SHO' NUFF box set.
When the Black Crowes released SHAKE YOUR MONEYMAKER in 1989, the alternative music revolution was a couple of years off as hair bands and mall queens cluttered the airwaves. The Crowes' debut was a straightforward rock & roll album named for an Elmore James song and recorded by a band fronted by an impossibly skinny lead singer and a pair of riff-happy guitarists. Sure, songs such as "Sister Luck," "Twice As Hard" and "Jealous Again" may have struck a little close to the sound the Rolling Stones and Faces were trading in during the early '70s, but there was nothing contrived about the Black Crowes' music.
Despite being in their early 20's at the time, brothers Chris and Rich Robinson showed a knack for writing about soul-searching ...

With their roots firmly planted in the alluvial top soil of '70s blues rock, The Black Crowes are truly enjoying their exile on main street. Because when all is said and done, The Black Crowes are a classic hard rock riff band, where the groove--the weaving of electric guitars/keyboards, with bass-drum dances--is paramount, much as it was for their mentors, Little Feat, The Faces and The Rolling Stones.
On AMORICA, The Black Crowes stretch out their throbbing grooves and dense retro mixes with taut, wiry bursts of electric guitar courtesy of Rich Robinson and ...
| | Drive-By Truckers Southern Rock Opera CDs (2001) Digipak
By Your Side songs
$11.99 A sprawling two-disc set, the Drive-By Truckers' SOUTHERN ROCK OPERA is a cracked masterpiece that's enjoyable on several different levels. Hipsters might enjoy the giggly premise of a two-disc set devoted to a slightly altered retelling of the rise and fall of 1970s Southern rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd. Progressive rock fans lamenting the modern era's relative lack of story-driven albums divided into ...
| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)
By Your Side album

By Your Side CD music
$5.59 I JUST WASN'T MADE FOR THESE TIMES is the soundtrack to the documentary film.
Brian Wilson transforms feelings of isolation and loneliness into music that approaches the divine. For those interested in checking out the man's much-vaunted genius, this soundtrack to a bio-documentary on Wilson is a fine place to start. Hearing these songs outside of their usual Beach Boys settings allows the listener to appreciate Wilson's gifts as songwriter and singer from a new perspective.
Expertly recorded by veteran producer Don Was, these pristine versions are faithful to the originals (most notably in the succinct arrangements). ...
