| | John Mayer Battle Studies CD (2009)
Brand New Testament music CDs
$12.95 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, ...

Brand New Testament songs
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" ...

Brand New Testament music CDs
$16.29 CONVERSATIONS IN THE WIND is the 1970 release from U.K. pop singer Petula Clark and includes "After The Hill" and "Goodbye Mr. Chips."
Originally recorded in London between January and March of 1970, the first dozen songs on this CD constitute what would have been the last full-length collaboration between Petula Clark and producer Tony Hatch on songs written (or co-written) by Jackie Trent. Instead, five of the songs turned up on the 1971 mid-priced Pye Records LP Today, while the rest remained unheard until the release of the three-CD anthology I Love to Sing: Pye 35th Anniversary in 1995. This CD marks the first time that all of the tracks have been assembled together in one place the way they were intended to be heard. What is here is a compelling mix of sophisticated pop that intersects (and compares favorably) with elements of progressive pop coming over to the States -- "After You" and, to a lesser degree, "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" call to mind aspects of Jimmy Webb's collaborations with Richard Harris, while "Theme for a Dream" favorably recalls the bouncy British Invasion sound of Clark's classic '60s hits. "Gotta Be Love" doesn't have the strongest chorus ever heard, but the rest of the song is attractive and shows off an alluringly ...

$10.15 Cape Breton Bound- There isn't any other place like it. Trust me on this! I truly hope that listening to this song will encourage you to decide to go and experience the place, and most especially, the love and genuine hospitality of it's people for yourself!Rusty Old American Dream-When I was just a kid, our neighbor, Mr Nelson had a 1962 Cadillac with a Champagne paint job. He would only drive it on Sundays and would faithfully polish it afterwards like the thoroughbred it was. Mr. Nelson, if you're up there, this track is dedicated to you. I wish you endless open highways. Mr Wilcox, I hope you enjoy my version of your song.Hello Dad-This song was written so many years ago that I can't believe it myself. It depicts the struggles that we all must go through when searching for that sense of self and identity. It's amazing to listen to it now and realize that, even after all this time, it is still a long long way to where I'm goin' and I'm still a long long way from where I've been. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Dad, I hope you like the way I've turned out so far. Oceanside Again-What else needs to be said? The folks in Nova Scotia invented a good time and they practice regularly. If you decide to go there, I highly recommend that you make sure that you're caught up on your rest!Warm Beer and Cold Women-My version of a protest song. Give My Love To Rose- Like many musicians of my generation, I cut my teeth on Johnny Cash tunes. He was, and is, a musical Icon for the ages. The Man In Black gave us music to last for generations, but more importantly, demonstrated to all of us that faith and perseverance can turn lives for the better. I Ain't Gonna ...
