Etta could sing the phone book & make it sound good!
I've always wanted to see Etta James live, and this is the next best thing. There is no more powerful voice in R&B and Soul than the great Etta James. This DVD showcases her singing some of her Greatest songs like:
"I'd Rather Go Blind" "AT LAst" & "Come to Mama."
What other person could take a song like Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" and make it a soul stirring R&B killer? Only the Great Etta James.
If you like Etta James do yourself a favor, buy this DVD right away.

I appreciate her music more now
I already have 3 cd's, but i appreciate her singing far more since watching the dvd "Burning Down The House". They showed it on FOXTEL (Australia's worldwide tv), but you can't buy the dvd in australia. If you go to her official site, you will find that she has lost alot of weight, and can stand up to do a concert.She still has a great voice,even if she did sit through it.

Burnin' Down the House This Ain't
This is a lame initial DVD offering for Ms. James many devoted fans. I have loved this woman for years, but this bland concert ain't creatin' any sparks, let alone burnin' down the house. Gone are the legendary growls and enthusiasm on past TV perfomances. I knew I was in trouble when the concert started and she was sitting down. She sat for the entire show, never once getting up and moving. At some point, she even appeared bored. I guess age has taken it's toll on this classic artist. Definitely not worth the investment. Stick to her classic Chess sides and avoid this poor performance.
