Brooke Langton, Heather Graham, Jon Favreau, Patrick Van Horn, Ron Livingston, Vince Vaughn - Director: Doug Liman Follow a group of guys who are unemployed by day and cruise the hippest joints of Hollywood by night. They'll show you what it means to look "money," and how to get the "digits." Writer-actor Jon Favreau's debut effort is a fresh and hilarious look at friendship, good times and the pursuit of love in the '90s. This movie is money, baby! SWINGERS follows insecure Mike and smooth-talking Trent, two retro-hip showbiz wanna-bes, as they make the scene at various clubs in Hollywood and Vegas. During their martini-fueled odyssey, the duo and their buddies explore an altogether new vernacular while struggling with images of machismo, self-esteem, relationships, and, of course, sex. Lead actor Jon Favreau based the script on his and his friends' real-life Tinseltown adventures. Hauling his sentimental friend out of his postbreakup funk, a club-hopping swinger takes him on a hilarious odyssey through the dating game of the 1990s, hitting the Vegas strip, fashionable martini lounges, and other modern hunting grounds of the opposite sex. Theatrical release: October 18, 1996.
Jon Favreau appeared on an episode of THE SOPRANOS playing himself; Christopher talks to him about the making of SWINGERS and hands the actor-writer a script.
Marty & Elayne appear as themselves at the Dresden, a gig they have had for many, many years.

$7.05 Based on the 1993 novel by Jeffrey Eugenides, THE VIRGIN SUICIDES tells the dreamlike tale of the Lisbons, a family living in a sheltered 1970s suburbia. When Cecilia (Hannah Hall), the youngest of the five teenage Lisbon daughters, inexplicably commits suicide, the rest of the family--Mr. Lisbon (James Woods), an awkward high school math teacher; Mrs. Lisbon (Kathleen Turner), a stern, humorless housewife; and the four remaining sisters: Lux (Kirsten Dunst), Bonnie (Chelse Swain), Mary (A.J. Cook), and Therese (Leslie Hayman)--recedes into a morbid cloud of repression and denial. As the girls are forced to retreat from everyday life by their conservative mother, they become the subject of fascination for a group of neighborhood boys, who narrate the story and hope to rescue the girls from their listless confinement.

Swingers review
$6.99 Following their success five years before with SWINGERS, Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn team up again in MADE, a comedy about two very different down-on-their-luck L.A. friends who get caught up in a dangerous deal in New York City. Favreau stars as Bobby, a hardworking, very serious construction worker who dreams of becoming a boxer and settling down with his stripper girlfriend (Famke Janssen) and her young daughter. Vaughn plays Ricky, an obnoxious ne'er-do-well who thinks that pulling off a big job for boss Max (Peter Falk) will be their ticket to the big time. The duo is sent off to New York to take part in a deal they know nothing about; while Bobby waits calmly for them to be discreetly contacted, Ricky never shuts his mouth, barking orders at random people, flashing his green and his wry smile all over town, annoying the heck out of everyone he meets, especially Ruiz (Sean "P-Diddy" Combs), who is their connection. The film is beautifully shot by master cinematographer Christopher Doyle, who recently filmed Wong Kar-Wai's stunning IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE. Bobby and Ricky make the perfect pair; Favreau is often silent in scenes, watching deadpan as Vaughn steals the show as the brazen, overbearing, ...

$10.29 Director Bryan Singer's labyrinthine crime drama centers on five career criminals (played by Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro, Kevin Pollak, and Stephen Baldwin) who meet after being rounded up for a standard police line-up. Upon their release, the men band together to pull off an intricate heist involving $3 million worth of emeralds. Their success brings them to the attention of the enigmatic Keyser Soze, an unseen, nefarious, and mythic underworld crime figure who coerces them into pulling off an important and highly dangerous job. The scenes that follow make THE USUAL SUSPECTS one of the most fascinating crime thrillers in cinema history.
Working from the Oscar-winning screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie, Singer adroitly tells the complex story through flashbacks, cross-cutting, and voice-over narration. Such nimble handling of the intricacies of the nonlinear narrative adds to the suspense, leaving ...

Swingers movie DVD
$15.25 Writer-director Quentin Tarantino revisits the seedier side of Los Angeles--following 1992's RESERVOIR DOGS--with this funny, violent, tongue-in-cheek tribute to the less "classic" side of filmmaking--the potboilers and capers, the Blaxploitation flicks and gangster movies. The film interweaves three tales, told in a circular, fractured manner, which only fully connect by the time the final credits roll. The first story focuses on Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), two hit men on duty for "the big boss," Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames), whose gorgeous wife, Mia (Uma Thurman), takes a liking to Vincent. In the second, a down-and-out pugilist (Bruce Willis), who is ordered to take a fall, decides that there's more money in doing the opposite. The final chapter follows a pair of lovers (Amanda Plummer and Tim Roth) as they prepare to hold up a diner.

Swingers video
$10.29 Turning up the style and energy levels that he kept under a threshold with 1997's JACKIE BROWN, Tarantino's obvious glee and reverence for the underground kung fu action pictures of the '70s, and Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns, makes for a stunning visual spectacle. Employing split screens, slow-motion, an anime sequence, and his trademark ultra-hip musical selections, Tarantino's film dares viewers to be unimpressed.

After a six-year hiatus, Quentin Tarantino returns to the director's chair with KILL BILL. The movie proves once again that he is a hyperactive visionary and the master of cinematic coolness. Split into two volumes by Miramax in order to ensure that Tarantino's vision would not be compromised (and presumably to sell more tickets), KILL BILL: VOL. 1 tells the first half of the sprawling story, which is quite simple at first glance. A female assassin, referred to as "The Bride" ...
