Purchase Greatest Hits CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Bobby Brown Dance!...Ya Know It CD (1990)
Greatest Hits album
$4.89 Cynics tend to dismiss remix albums as cheap exploitation and opportunism on the part of labels. But when the remixing is handled by inventive DJs, they definitely have their pleasures. Dance!...Ya Know It!, obviously fueled by MCA Records' desire to cash in on the enormous success of Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel, is neither one of the better nor one of the worst remix albums available. While the primary focus is material from Cruel -- including the hard and rugged new jack swing of "My Prerogative" and "Don't Be Cruel" and the vulnerable romanticism of "Roni," "Every Little Step," and "Rock Wit' Cha" -- Brown's debut solo album, King of Stage, is represented by remixes of "Seventeen," "Girl Next Door," and "Baby, I Wanna Tell You Something." Much of the remixing is done by hit R&B producers L.A. Reid and Babyface, who are far from adventurous ...
| | Kihnsolidation: The Best Of Greg Kihn CD (1989)
Greatest Hits CD music
$12.79 Rhino's Greg Kihn retrospective is definitive, drawing from each of the straightforward pop-rocker's albums, including all of his hit singles, and even continuing his long history of album titles built around name-derived puns (1981's Rockihnroll, 1985's Citizen Kihn, etc.). Kihnsolidation includes the hits "Breakup Song" and "Jeopardy," as well as the smooth, Hall & Oates-ish "Lucky" and the rollicking rocker "Reunited." Kihn imbues Bruce Springsteen's "For You" with a '60s sensibility that works especially well in the chiming chorus. While Kihn's albums had a tendency toward filler, Kihnsolidation includes all the strongest album cuts to complement the hit singles. "Madison Avenue" and "Any Other Woman," in particular, are real gems. Essential for any fan of Kihn, the Beserkley Records sound, or solid rock & roll. ~ Johnny Loftus
Digitally remastered by Bill Inglot and Ken Perry.

| | Magic: The Very Best Of Olivia Newton-John CD (2001)
Greatest Hits music CDs
$11.99 Recorded between 1973 and 1983. Includes liner notes by Robyn Flans.
Digitally remastered by Garvin Lurssen (The Mastering Lab, Hollywood, California).
All those nostalgia mavens and time-travelers who revel in '70s pop culture will find the ante upped a notch upon the release of MAGIC. You can listen to Carpenters tribute albums and sing Abba songs till your face turns blue, but if you really want to plunge back into the '70s experience, the greatest hits of Australian siren Olivia Newton-John are the only way to travel. Her dulcet tones float gently over some of the most carefully constructed ballads and seamlessly crafted arrangements of the decade. And even a cursory listen to "Please Mr. Please" or "Let Me Be There" will serve to remind that Olivia achieved a fair amount of country crossover back in the day as well. Sure, tracks like "Physical" bring things into ...
| | Oliver Good Morning Starshine CD (2005) Remastered
Greatest Hits songs
$12.89 Oliver's recording career covered a lot of ground, from the cosmic bubblegum of "Good Morning Starshine" to serious, socially conscious folk-pop and country-rock. His rendition of Rod McKuen's love-and-nature ballad "Jean" fit into yet another category altogether, and gave Oliver his biggest hit. As a result, this survey of Oliver's career reveals him to be a restless character reaching for artistic and professional direction after two defining but unrepresentative singles. Oliver's own compositions, such as "Young Birds Fly" and "Buddy," show the kind of music he wanted to create: complex, orchestrated, sometimes dramatic adult folk-pop similar to that of Bob Lind. Good Morning Starshine: The Best of Oliver features a dozen recordings from 1969-1971 that originally appeared on the Jubilee, Crewe, and United Artists labels, including all of his charting pop and easy listening hits. A lush remake of the Fleetwoods' "Come Softly to Me" credited to Billy 'n Sue is actually a pseudonymous duet between Oliver and Lesley Gore. The last two cuts on the anthology are taken from Oliver's third album, Prisms, and find him playing appealing countrified material that should have produced a commercial revival in his recording career. This anthology is the first to ...
| | Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden CDs (2009) With DVD
Greatest Hits album
$17.99 MICHAEL BUBLE MEETS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN finds Canadian crooner Buble making a highly anticipated appearance at the storied New York City concert venue. Buble is at the very least an incredibly talented vocalist who grew from a nice kid singer in the early part of the decade to a truly swinging interpreter of the Great American Songbook canon by its end. Furthermore, he found the right modern pop/soul songs--often co-written by himself ("Lost," "Home")--which have worked to fully contemporize his likable and swaggering ...

Greatest Hits music CDs
$16.45 We are proud to release this magnificent album from one of the undiscovered greats of Jazz-Lodi Carr. While the general public may never have heard of her, she is regarded as a true artist throughout the professional jazz world. Colleague and friend Milt Jackson paid her the highest compliment that any jazz performer can receive. "Her voice has a unique quality in that she sounds original, and that is the ingredient that makes a singer or an artist stand. She sounds like herself. I know it's her." As her dear friend Carmen McRae once said after finishing a duet with Lodi at The Village Gate, "You don't know what you have here. You all should listen to her. She sings so perfectly in tune. Her choice of songs in impeccable. She sings her ass off."Nat Hentoff (January 1992) "Ladybird" "Very few singers care about lyrics anymore. They attack and bash them. Lodi Carr, however, illuminates a song,MUSICALLY,from the inside, as this whole album, including the new tracks shows." Lodi's music career started at the age of 15 in Detroit when the city was extaordinarily rich with jazz musicians. She began sitting in at THE NEW MUSIC SOCIETY,WORLD STAGE, whose members included Billy Mitchell, Kenny Burrell, Elvin Jones and other giants of Jazz. Lodi's first nightclub appearance was with Sir Roland Hanna at the age of 16. Her sense of style and talent launched her into the jazz community. She was soon singing with many of the great jazz artists such as Sonny Stitt and Bill Evans. Reviewed by DOWNBEAT the magazine noted her special rapport with the audience and stated "there is no substitute for ungimmicked, quality jazz singing....Lodi does just that." Like her fellow members of the Detroit jazz renaissance, Lodi moved to New York. Her first night in town she san at Birdland for Maynard Ferguson with Tommy Flanagan. She was quickly invited to appear at various New York clubs, until she went on to tour with the Claude Thornhill Band. Her most recent appearances incllude Birdland, Blue Note, ...
