Pioe's Best
Vincent Price at his suave, demonic best - "Masque" haunted me through childhood, and is still one of the most stylish, thoughtful versions of any of this genre. As for "Premature Burial" - wow! Good thing the medical profession has advanced since then! Campy, tongue-in-cheek horror.

Worth more than 10 dollars!
Alot of people like Masque of the red death the best out of the Corman/Poe movies. Movies Corman made at his best were pretty crafty. I'd just like to say that Midnite Movies could have put black bars over a pan and scan version and lied about it being the original theatrical aspect ratio at such a cheap price but they didn't. No one should but they do. I'm just hoping they release Tomb of Ligeia as well.

Buried alive
Afraid of beeing buried alive...If you want to see a horror film and feel like someone who is listening a horror story told by a reader then the premature burial is a good choice. What you could imagine listening the story is what is seen on screen. Don't espect the effects we have nowadays but the story is pretty good. I saw it several years ago when the television was in black and white and now i can see it in colors. If you are a classic horror film fan you should buy it.

The BEST PRICE/POE Ever!!!
Masque Of... is a legend. It is by far the BEST interpretation of any Poe tale from the Roger Corman / Vincent Price collaborations.
Saturated in unadulterated evil, it tales the tale of the evil Prince Prospero, who is more than content to do the bidding of his dark master. When the Red Death strikes a nearby village, Prospero throws a ball (Read: True Satanic Ritual) and invites all the local nobility to "Protect Them" from the effects of this accursed plague. Little do they know, the Prince bears sinister plans in mind.
Through the subliminal implantation of ceremony and ritual, Price evokes the true animal nature from each of the nobles, and in doing so delivers them all unto his lord Satan! However, to Prosero's surprise, his acts of loyalty do not protect him from the effects of the Red Death, and he to falls victim to the unyielding plague.
Filled with the best one-liners in Prices' illustrious career of Evil it's almost unbelievable that Hollywood allowed this film to be made at the time. "There is no other god- Satan killed him!", "Death, plague & pestilence- They rule this world.", "Are these the signs of your loving and caring god?", "That cross around your neck, remove it and Never wear it in this castle again!" and "I find it disrespectful to pay homage to a god long since dead" are but a few of the choice line Price evokes with absolute passion in this epic of evil.
Backed by illustrious set design, detailed medieval costumes and chilling music score, Masque Of The Red Death" is the high water mark in the careers of both Vincent Price And Roger Corman.
Premature Burial is another great film from the American International Pictures archive, but sadly can not hold a candle to the masterwork that is "Masque". The second feature here SHOULD have been another dark Price let Poe tale, such as "the Conqueror Worm" or a hard to find rarity like "The Monster Club".
