The 1997 reissue of FUTURISTIC DRAGON features 3 additional tracks that did not appear on the original release; "London Boys," "Laser Love" and "Life's An Elevator."
By the mid-'70s, Marc Bolan's T. Rex had fallen on hard times. Bolan, who remained the essential element in the band, began experimenting with soul/funk sounds and collaborating with his wife, singer Gloria Jones, with mixed results.
While 1976's FUTURISTIC DRAGON didn't hit the charts as hard as T. Rex's earlier classics ELECTRIC WARRIOR, SLIDER, and TANX had, it finds Bolan back on track. "New York City" turned out to be one of Bolan's final U.K. hits before his untimely death one year later. Other highlights include the orchestrated instrumental "Theme for a Dragon," and the upbeat power pop of "Chrome Sitar."
1976 re-issue of "Futuristic Dragon" complete with bonus disc of alternate versions, outtakes, solo recordings and more. Fold-out digipak style case includes limited-edition slipcover. 36 tracks on Demon Records. 2002.
Includes liner notes by Mark Paytress.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Recorded at MRI Studios, Hollywood, California.

Futuristic Dragon
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.
DREAMS' strengths are considerable. First and foremost, the box contains nearly five wall-to-wall hours of great music. By including ...
| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Futuristic Dragon
$15.29 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. ...

| | Warren Zevon Transverse City CD (1989) Remastered
Futuristic Dragon
$10.19 Released in 1987, Sentimental Hygiene rescued Warren Zevon from record industry limbo and returned him to major-label status, but rather than return to the rough-and-ready sound of that album, he used his new corporate patronage to finance a significantly grander and darker project, 1989's Transverse City. The album features an impressive array of guest stars -- including Jerry Garcia, David Gilmour, Neil Young, Jack Casady, Jorma Kaukonen, and Benmont Tench -- but while its surface is as glossy as the albums Zevon created when he was the darling of the L.A. Mellow Mafia, the tone is as grim as anything the man ever created. Transverse City is a song cycle about a culture in collapse, in which technology has become our unfriendly master, the sky and stars have grown unfamiliar to us, conflict lurks around every corner, and our last remaining freedom is the right to spend our money. Zevon does aim for black humor here and there, most notably in the sly "Networking" and the tongue-in-cheek consumer anthem "Down at the Mall," but more typical is the dread of "Run Straight Down," the urban paranoia of "Gridlock," and the title song's celebration of a land where "life is cheap and death is free." The album's sole ...
| | Doors Legacy: The Absolute Best CDs (1967)
Futuristic Dragon
$19.79 Recorded between 1967 & 1983. Includes liner notes by Jim Ladd.
Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse Blues," this compilation delves much deeper into the catalogue with fan favorites such as "Not To Touch the Earth" and "Wishful Sinful," as well as a handful of previously obscure rarities. Remastered and newly remixed by original engineer Bruce Botnick and the surviving members of the Doors, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS is a solid tribute to the band.
The first Doors album was an important development in the evolution of rock, representing the dark underbelly of the '60s counterculture, the Jekyll to the Beatles/Beach Boys' ...
| | Chuck Rio Tequila Man CD (1998) (Import) United Kingdom
Futuristic Dragon
$21.29 Thirty-track assortment of sides in which Rio played a part between the mid-1950s and mid-1960s. It's a hodgepodge of a few Champs cuts (including "Tequila"), the entire Surfer's Nightmare recording by the Persuaders, issued and unissued material credited to Chuck Rio, issued and unissued cuts credited to Danny Flores, and even one ascribed to "Danny Boy." Rio was a fine saxophone player, and deserves some credit ...
| | Low Secret Name CD (1999)
Futuristic Dragon
$11.89 On Low's fifth album (the fourth was a European-only live album), the band moved away from the fuzzy sound of its previous few releases and re-introduced some of the brittleness of earlier records. Many of the tracks also feature auditory experimentation. Garbled announcements, scratchy backing tracks, an instrument called an opitgan, and strings all find a place here. As the band moved into more experimental territory, it fit better than ever onto ...
| | Crosby & Nash Carry Me CD (2001) (Import) Netherlands
Futuristic Dragon
$3.29 Stills gets benched for this one as David Crosby and Graham Nash run through songs such as "Mama Lion," "Bittersweet," and "Naked in the Rain."
This European import is, in actuality, a pirated version of David Crosby and Graham Nash's 1975 release Wind on the Water. Legalities aside, those looking for this material should direct their attention to the ...

Inked to wunderkind producer 9th Wonder's Jamla Records, Skyzoo stoked the excitement with a heralded mixtape, CORNER STORE CLASSIC, a high-concept compilation touting his attempt to forge the intersection where 21st Century gangster and enlightenment rap collide. On the brilliantly simple "Penmanship" (featuring slick Black Milk production), he boasts ...
