| | Worship For Women CD
As with the Worship for Men counterpart in this praise series from Brentwood Records, it's hard to find fault with something created out of such joy and sincerity. The women here sing some of the songs as the men do on that CD, and all just as flatly and generically. Don Marsh's arrangements are fine on the instrumental side, and he uses different instruments to create a bit more emotion than the male CD has. Still, these are bland performances when compared to much more powerful experiences, such as the WOW Worship samplers. These versions of classic worship tunes are very reverent, but since when is it a sin to break free and get downright excited for God? ~ Jonathan Widran

Worship For Women songs
$8.99 Detroit vocalist Fred Hammond has danced skillfully on that gloriously blurred line between gospel and sweet soul music for decades, whether solo or with his group Commissioned. Hammond's knack for letting the spirit resound in his vocals has earned him a well-deserved following. The energetic SOMETHIN' 'BOUT LOVE adds to his catalogue of energetic records with a slate of inspired, groove-laden odes to salvation.
Hammond is also a skillful songwriter, co-penning most of the album's tunes, including the deft, intricate single "Celebrate (He Lives)." Brian McKnight and Marvin L. Winans join him for a lustrous trio on the undeniably catchy "Lord We Need Your Love." Hammond's closest musical cousin in the secular world is Stevie Wonder, a connection ...

Worship For Women album
$12.29 In the liner notes preceding the lyrics to the title track of Anberlin's NEVER TAKE FRIENDSHIP PERSONAL, chief songwriter/lead vocalist Stephen Christian muses "you told me to 'write a song about it' so here's your song." That comment pretty well sums up this Florida outfit, a fiery rock quintet that lives earnestly inside of its songs. Similar to Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin is able to strike a balance between cerebral ...

$12.39 The self-titled debut by Our Heart's Hero fits comfortably into the mold of Christian radio established by prior kings of the airwaves Switchfoot. But in places where Jonathan Foreman would lead the surfer group into full-fledged rock, OHH play it safe just enough to remain in the accessible pop/rock arena. A gritty yet familiar sound graces the debut by this Ohio quartet, which is led by guitarist/lead vocalist Nick Joyce. The album rings with anthems that invite a return to righteous living. Co-producers Brent Milligan (Audio Adrenaline, ...
