| | Hypnotic Clambake Varicose Brain CD Hypnotic Clambake Discography of CDs
Album Description:After four years of working deep in the woods of Massachusetts with some of North America's finest musicians and producers, Hypnotic Clambake has come through with a strong mix of new original music on their new CD entitled Varicose Brain. Like their first three CD's, Varicose Brain incorporates the band's eclectic vision with top-notch virtuosic performances. According to band leader Maury Rosenberg, this new CD promises to be a listening experience unlike any other. "I've been waiting to make an album like this all my life." said Rosenberg. "I feel that we were able to capture the spirit of traditional roots music, while utilizing the best that technology has to offer, such as, digital editing and sampling. We had a lot of fun making this CD, and we hope you have fun listening to it."Bio:In 1990, "Hypnotic Clambake" formed in Boston, MA. In 1991, the band released their first compact disc "Square Dance Messiah" (Blue Button Records) which sold well in the United States, Canada, Germany, and Italy, establishing an international audience. Touring throughout the 1990's, the band has performed their original music in 40 of the 50 states, Canada, and the Virgin Islands including some of North America's most prestigious music festivals (Montreal Jazz Fest, Winnipeg Folk Fest, Three River's Arts Festival, Milwaukee Summer Fest, Outrageous Universe Revival). Review:Hypnotic Clambake - "Varicose Brain" CD - Almost three years after their last release comes this unique new album from this unpredictable group. Wry, witty, and at times downright hilarious, this is musical oddity at its most inventive. Blending a healthy mix of zydeco into their anything-goes sound, Hypnotic Clambake continue to make some of the most interesting music in the world. -Homegrown Music Network Hypnotic Clambake Varicose Brain Songs | 1. | Fool in Love |

Purchase Varicose Brain CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Carrie Underwood Play On CD (2009)
Varicose Brain album
$13.35 Daisy in her hair aside, Carrie Underwood looks flat-out glamorous on the cover of PLAY ON, which is a pretty fair indication of what awaits listeners on her third album. Carrie is still nominally a country artist and sometimes will sing supported by fiddles and steel guitar, but this is crossover pop pure and simple, whether it's the thundering rhythms on the Shania-styled strut "Cowboy Casanova" or the succession of maudlin melodies on the preponderance of power ballads. Carrie takes a much stronger presence as a writer here, co-authoring seven of the 13 songs, and she's attracted to hookless showstoppers designed to showcase her powerful voice. When she sticks to tunes written solely by the professionals, PLAY ON does have some slick pleasures, particularly on the breezy "Quitter" and "This Time," songs built on solid melodies and delivered without flash, relying on craft and Carrie's considerable small-town charm.

| | Taylor Swift Fearless CDs (2008) With DVD; Bonus Tracks; Special Edition
Varicose Brain CD music
$17.19 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, a big sister instead of a big star. Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective of a woman who's perhaps twice that age--a sly trick for the 18-year-old Swift. There may be a hint of youthfulness to her singing but that's the only ...

| | Robert Earl Keen The Rose Hotel CD (2009)
Varicose Brain CD music
$12.09 THE ROSE HOTEL is Texas songwriter Robert Earle Keen's first studio album since 2005's WHAT I REALLY MEAN. Keen enlisted fellow Texan Lloyd Maines to produce him this time out and that was a solid decision. The material ranges from the title track which is one of his spun out story tunes that looks at a pair of lovers who can never quite connect as they think their meant to. Fueled by a shuffling rhythm, mandolins, Bukka Allen's accordion, and some electric guitars for support, the choruses are catchy, making for another notch in his trademark tunes belt. The cover of Townes Van Zandt's "Flying Shoes" is rocked up a bit, with a bass line that sounds like it would be more at home on a Brian Setzer Orchestra record than this one. Rock plays a real role here as it has on most of Keen's records for the past decade. "Throwin' Rocks" may have banjos and steel guitars, but its pure Texas shuffle and boogie. "10,000 Chinese Walk Into a ...
| | Mobb Deep Juvenile Hell CD (1993)
Varicose Brain music CDs
$11.99 Contains sample from "Somebody Owns A Piece Of The Rock" (David Porter).
On their debut, Havoc and Prodigy tell the listener in all sorts of overconfident manners that there are few people out there who can mess with Mobb Deep. In fact, they do so in 14 different ways on Juvenile Hell. Mostly produced by Mobb Deep themselves, this album is rawness at an unrelenting pace, with an undeniable, relentless, and often irrational energy. The intro cut sets the mood as a warning, set to a "Queens brand" production. The tempo is kind of fast, but the bassline rolls to easily facilitate a strong head nod. The sampled horn stabs help to remind you that, after all, it's still music. Over this beat Prodigy cautions: "It's called Juvenile Hell; you won't survive long." In the first few songs, Mobb acquaints the listener with the life of a "frustrated and confused young juvenile" living in Queens. Juvenile Hell is hardcore, but not void of musical pr creative effort and accomplishment; it's really cool, serious, and 100 percent hip-hop. Highlights include "Flavor for the ...
