#1 Country Hits album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept that list, and now she's drawn on it for this wonderfully nuanced outing that brims with a kind of redemptive timelessness. THE LIST is a renewal and a testament to life, and it belongs to her father as much as it belongs to her, a beautiful restatement of her father's passions, only now, they've become his daughter's treasures, as well. It's an affirming story, but that's all it would be if Cash didn't sing her heart out here. The opener, a version of Jimmie Rodgers' ...
| | Brad Paisley American Saturday Night CD (2009)
#1 Country Hits CD music
$12.19 An American saturday night is not an unusual topic for a country song but Brad Paisley's celebration is. Paisley sees a typical weekend night as a cultural collision of French kisses, Italian Ices, Canadian bacon and margaritas, a place where Mexican and Dutch beers chill side by side in a bucket of ice. If he leans too heavily on labels, referring to those beers by brand name, it's merely a reflection of Paisley's uncanny knack for capturing the casual contemporary details of American life at the tail end of the 2000s. It's not just the pile up of iPhones and international ...

| | Santeros Y Salseros CD (2000)
#1 Country Hits album
$13.85 Many Latin American countries are best known for a particular beat or rhythm -- samba in Brazil, tango in Argentina, joropo in Venezuela, cumbia in Columbia, and merengue in the Dominican Republic. Those aren't the only rhythms that came out of those countries, but they are the most celebrated. Many Cubans will tell you that son is Cuba's national rhythm just as samba is Brazil's, but then, Cuba has given us so many great rhythms to enjoy -- not only son, but also mambo, guaguanco, son montuno, danzón, cha-cha, pregón, and guaracha, among others. And because so many rhythms have come out of Cuba, "salsa" is a very convenient umbrella term for describing music with an Afro-Cuban orientation. Released in 2000, Santeros y Salseros is an interesting, diverse collection that reminds us how many different Afro-Cuban styles there are to choose from. This CD doesn't focus on any one style or rhythm exclusively; Santeros y Salseros makes a point of exposing the listener to a variety of Cuban artists and rhythms. The disc gets off to a very raw, skeletal start with some traditional Santería chants by veteran drummer Carlos Aldama, who uses nothing but percussion instruments. But the material that follows is a lot more melodic, and the rhythms change from one song to the next. By the time Santeros y Salseros is finished playing, RealRhythm ...

| | Jah Tsidkenu Armageddon CD (2006)
#1 Country Hits CD music
$23.45 Haile Selassie and Empress Wayzero Menen be praised....Jah Tsidkenu is a Rastafari singer who endeavours to write and sing soulful music. He does not concentrate on being a prolific artist but instead focuses on the quality of the output. His music can be very political at times as he sings about the state of the realities of his time. His music is seasoned with a unique brand of Rastafari rootsiness. He has an unmistakable voice that could be described as pleasant. He is a vegetarian and smokes marijuana(cannabis),which inspires him to write sound lyrics(great brain food) and sing with deep feeling. He loves Earth colours.Read the following along with the narration of Track 12...............Jah Tsidkenu started recording in 1995."Astronaut" and "Hail di Emperor" were recorded 1997-1999."Peace til Shiloh" was inspired by Isaiah chapter 11. Jah Tsidkenu is averse to promises and says you should expect two things from him...Nothing so you wont be disappointed and anything so you wont be surprised. His most revered artiste of all time is the supremely soulful Rastafari baritone Peter Tosh and "Rastafari is"(by Tosh) is his favourite song. He has been influenced by almost every recording artiste he has ever listened to and this probably explains his distinctly multi-expressive singing style. He is certainly not the biggest artiste you've ever listened to be he could well be the quaintest.Jah Tsid may not be all that easy on the eyes but he is certainly easy on the ears.He records with a band of older musicians(The Chakula Band) and his musical output is therefore usually reminescent of The Seventies-The Golden Age of Roots Rock Reggae. He is enamoured with Africanness..African music,African Movies and African Scented Oils(especially Nubian Musk). "I need to Rest" speaks on the insanities of the status quo at home and abroad. He is very concerned about current world events and he insists that since the world is being spoilt by a handful of heartless people,if good people should come together then all wickedness shall be eradicated from the planet....The internet is the best avenue for this union.A chat room will not be capacious enough so perhaps we'll need a chat condo. Jah Tsidkenu means "our righteous one".Being Rastafari, Jah Tsidkenu is an avid meditator(Thanks to great cannabis reefers) and this serves to augment his creative energies."Land of Promise" expresses his overall outlook and mission. He is also vegetarian and loves to cook Ital(wholly natural and organic). He loves a lot of herbs and spices in his meals. Jah Tsidkenu is an introvert who honestly loves seclusion and loneliness. This spiritually embellishes his daily trod.He is usually soft spoken and quiet. He maintains that equity and justice are the only solutions to these tumultuos Times. Jah Tsidkenu has a deep love for his other half and this is aptly expressed in "never let me go".He also has a passion for the Emperor Haile Selassie the First and sees himself as a tool the Emperor's energy utilises.Give "The Emperor" a listen ...
